  • This 1961 is the first vintage of Chàmbertin Clos de Beze from Pierre Gelin in Fixin. A fine line between ethereal and volatile. Saturated berries, liquorice, mushroom and dried cured meat. Smells very lovely for a mature Burgundy however there is a slightly off-putting whiff of WD-40 / pipe cleaner that didn’t go away with time. Rating would have been higher had it not been that.
