Crisp and zesty, a true kabinett. So easy to drink. Lovely bouquet of golden delicious apples and limes, with just a hint of petrol. A sweet attack followed by an almost lacy mouthfeel and excellent length. Delicious since release, I can see this improving. Screwcap closure.

Popped and poured. Moderately intense nose of lemons, wet slate, citrus blossoms, grass, and mixed ketones. Rather light but beautifully balanced on the palate with good acidity and moderate fruit. Seems to lack the complexity it had in its younger days but still a nice drink.

Boy do I LOVE riesling with a little age on it. Petrol galore and very nice citrusy, fruity, flowery goodness. Really hard to describe exactly what excites my taste buds, but I am so glad I stocked up on German Rieslings in general when I had no idea what these "sugar water" elixers were all about.

Clear pale greenish-yellow color. Absolutely knock-out nose of linden blossoms, lemongrass, ketones, wet shale and peaches. More like a Spatlaese on the palate with ample sweetness, good acidity, and ripe fruit. Nice clean finish. A lovely wine that paired perfectly with sole in chervil sauce and pasta with black truffles and cream.

Intense golden and bright yellow. Round, nutty and a little buttery on the nose. Round and very soft palate, high complexity, rather long, something of green apple aftertaste.

Pop n pour. Medium straw core with an attractive nose of slate, slight petrol, white flowers and apples. Medium-bodied palate with a sleek structure; simple, pure and elegant for this price-point. 8% abv, drink thru 2012, approx $18.

Petrol nose and flavors, with stone fruit (apricot) and hint of orange citrus. Acidity could be a bit higher but about the right amount of RS to make it drinkable with a lot of different foods.

Solid riesling, petrol nose, mostly stone fruit (apricot and peach) and bits of citrus on the palate. Good acidity, probably needs a two year timeline to consume

Buttercup colour, hint of spritz; muted nose some slatey, flowery notes; off dry, fresh, deft. Pleasant summer drinking, finished well but tell tale Loosen-esque sugar poking out. May improve but safest to drink over the short term .

Spritzy MSR with lively tropical fruits and balanced with just the right amount of acid...nice big finish as well--enjoyed on a big wine night for jwobkk's b-day at The Kitchen, Sacramento.

8%, AP No. 2 576 162 14 06 A lovely nose, feeling remarkably mature with a very marked petrolly and slate minerality outweighing some creamy apples. Delicious and refreshing on the palate, this is a touch sherbetty, just off dry, but with some acidity. Unfortunately, however, the overall impression is of simplicity and a lack of depth.

Rather deep, pronounced spritz; muted nose, hayseed & honey; fresh, zingy, sherbert, slatey, textbook; deft, dryish finish, bit abrupt. So well balanced. Love it. score 16.

AP Nr. 2 576 162 14 06, 8% A mid lemon gold colour. Very soft, subtle nose with a nice wet stone minerality. There's an immediate impression of subtle sweetness, but it quickly balanced out by an equally gentle acidity. This is very attractive, with gret poise and elegance. Not particularly complex, but it represents stylish easy drinking epitomised.

Opened this when it was a tad too cold. The finish was very strange so we gave it about 20 minutes to both open and warm up. What a difference did that make! Wonderful flavors of orange blossom and bees wax were exceptional. Very nice Riesling, but I would wait a few more years before opening any more of these.

Effervescent and provocative nose gives loads of smoke, minerals, flowers, vanilla, tropical fruits and cherry. Lush and round fruit are matched by vibrant acidity. Pure and focused flavors of sweet red apples, spice and smoky vanilla. Good length filled with freshness, minerals and zest. A well balanced, fresh and flavorful effort. (4+13+17+8=92).

I really loved this wine, which actually tastes like a Kabinett. Aromas of green tea, white flowers, honey, and slate. On the palate, green pears, unripe nectarines, green tea, and slate. Terrific length and crisp finish. Very nice acidity (something I have not seen in many '05 Kabs) and balance. This is the wine to drink while your Spätlasen and Auslesen are sleeping. 92-93 points.

Pale yellow gold. Aromatic nose of wet slate, quince, honey and small white flowers. Zesty and fresh with a nice mix of apricot fruit and salty minerality. Lively and superbly balanced with everthing in its proper place. So easy to drink now but this should be even more interesting with 5 years...Excellent

What a crowd pleaser! This is so so rich and creamy for a Kabinett. The review on Parker online has Schug stating that what is Kabinett today would have passed as Auslese 20 years ago. Scary! I guess that can be a silver lining to global warming at the risk of sounding insensitive to our declining situation here on Earth. Anyway back to the wine. The aroma is full of sweet apples and mandarin oranges and as rich as the aromatics are, they hardly prepare you for the onslaught of tastes that absolutely clobber your palate. Huge scoops of peaches and cream, apple pie, and lemon custard fill your mouth, all perfectly balanced by a zesty acidity. Fantastic Kabinett. I only bought two bottles and am wishing I had bought a case. This stuff has the structure to still be drinking beautifully in 2016, especially with the perfect seal that comes with the screwcap.

More translucent than the 2005 St. Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett drunk alongside while watching Dice-K dismantle the hapless Royals. Light to medium body, with loads of upfront fruit on the nose. Red apple, pear, apricot and some tropical fruits leap from the glass. Not super complex, and not as complex as the St Urbans Hof - but a great value.

Good acid-sugar balance. Not very complex but overall very, very good. I agree with previous note - this is typical Spätlese labeled as Kabinett. And therefore very good value for only $15! (3 months later: %$#@! Now $20!)
