Awesome, and drinking fabulously. Purchased at the winery along with the Covey Ridge bottling. Aromas burst forth - briary pie cherry, rhubard, but with a dustiness throughout. Long, satisfying, building finish. In a great place, in no danger of decline.
I'm going to forgo the score here since we didn't give it enough time..... bummer too because while the nose was very pleasant with light red fruit, it just didn't have much on the palate, and certainly not the depth that others have described. Not bad at all but I think it needed more than we gave it.
For the first two to three hours after this was popped the fruit battled a purely malolactic nose and was losing. Though there was some blackberry fruit, the wine was subdued. I have heard Sineann's glass corks work exceptionally well and demand a decanting session before prime drink ability. This was no exception, though it was a joy to take the journey with the wine as it drastically changed a couple hours later. Eventually the plastic and malo nose was replaced by red fruits, like cranberry and maraschino cherries, and limestone to complement the dark fruit. Super youthful and an interesting complement to the 2005 Thomas I had that night. Both were wonderful and youthful, but unless you have three plus bottles I'd give them both another couple of years. Be noted of my somewhat vinous penchant.
This was really nice. Took a long time to open aromatically (had loads of malo) but eventually started showing blackberries and raspberries, clove, cinnamon and cola. Flavors were in tune with the aromatics. Great richness and texture.
2005 Oregon Pinot review (Lou's): Deep ruby in color. The nose is like a freshly baked cherry pie with spice and cherry pie filling. On the palate, more sour cherries which I liked but also a kind of sweet sour cherry aspect. Really nice finish.
Medium dark color, somewhat muted dark Pinot aromas. Dark fruit on the palate with some tannins still on the finish. Decent balance and enjoyable overall but not particularly special. Could hold a bit longer but no reason to wait.
