I was hopeful at first, as I think 2 bottles out of 3 of this (bought a case on release) have been oxidized. The few good ones have been superb. But yeah, some oxidation. In fairness, now we’re at 15 years. Not undrinkable but why bother.

Slightly aged at age 15 but has generally held up well. Good nose, very good length, and a mouth that still shows distinct flavors, so good there too. Still tastes of rich Chabis so good there as well.

Soft wet stone notes on the nose - minerals and light lemon - honey. Salt and minerals across the palate - long, juicy finish - solid and has aged well. Acidity surprisingly present given a warm-ish year - enjoyable.

Pale to mid straw. Clean and lovely from the off. Combines the richness of the Les Clos with the minerality and line of the Bougros C de B (both drunk a couple of evenings previously). The best of both worlds and the best of the three wines. Serious, proper GC weight, dense but finely textured, and then mineral with some salinity and lovely line and cut. Persistent through the finish. Wonderful. Also shows well, cleanly and consistently from the start without flirting with over-ripeness or over maturity *****

An absolutely beautiful wine in perfect spot to be enjoyed, especially in summer time. Gorgeous complexity of iodine, super dry and pure mineral, citrus fruits, honey, leather and slightly saline. Well, as you can see this bottle is transparent yet full of details, uplifting and yet coming back with a long, long after taste. One could only hope to have this quality of wine everyday but then maybe it would be dreaming of an unrealistic utopia Very nice indeed and making me sip until the very last drop in the glass. Cheers,

Starts out with lots of ripe apple, nicely fresh for its age, particularly given that many 2005s have matured so quickly. Very impressive concentration and length. Chablis mineral textures come through nicely on finish.

Fantastic wine. A bit of tropical fruit along with the more citrus and mineral elements. Somewhat bigger than the 05 Dauvissat Preuses that I drank along side.

{Case purchased on release; forgotten, just opened; perfect fill} Rich, mature Chablis, probably best with rich fish or other seafood; Preuses elegance and floral elements are there as well as the ripe rich flavors of the year and time. Would drink over the next 12 months, say end of 2018, for my palate but may hold a few bottles to try when 18-20 years old.

Of 3 bottles opened over the last 6 months, one was heavily premoxed, one was somewhat premoxed and the other was glorious. On the upside, the premoxed bottles make great cooking wine. A great bottle merits mid 90's rating and exhibits that distinctive Les Preuses profile.

No premox, this had a great showing last night. Not a wine of specific fruit descriptors, this won the day over with a rich, mineral attack that avoided being exotic (like a few 06's I've had) but pressed on with a caressing mid palate presence. The momentum continues the more sips one takes, sea breeze and subtle spearmint traits appear, and the clear pedigree of the Preuses is obvious on the very long finish. My best guess is this at peak, but should hold at least 5 years, maybe 10 if the bottle is sound.

like the majority of the '04 and '05 Les Preuses and Les Clos I've had over the past 5 years, this was tired, lacking freshness and depth of flavor. Fevre was one of my favorite producers for a number of years, but their severe premox issues has been a source of great irritation. Ceased buying with 2008 vintage.

White Frenchies at Sea Change (Sea Change at the Guthrie, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. PNP, Drank 1+ glass over 90 minutes. This was a pristine bottle, a wow wine with a great nose and palate. I was struck by the intensity here. The nose was tropical, very fresh fruits, mango, orange, orange blossoms, quite floral, butterscotch, a touch of anise, mineral. The palate was lively and expressive, gorgeous minerality, precise, tropical, citrus, anise. Long finish. I loved this bottle! 94+ to 95pts.

Light tulip with a glimmer of green. White flowers and succulent citrus aromas. Medium weight. Beautiful framing use of oak to give the wine a silky feel without any taste of wood. Absolutely gorgeous orange/lemon fruit that just sings. Some salinity, average acidity, good length. This is a hard wine not to like because of its fruit and feel, but it doesn't really deliver the tension and "essence of Chablis" character that you find in the greatest examples of Les Preuses. High quality, though, and as good as it is going to get.

Terroir-istes International - Chablis Grand Cru & one 1er Cru (Rodwell House): Light yellow in colour. A fresh, vibrant lifted nose with lemon peel, earth, oyster shell, clementine, white button mushroom and aniseed. Amazing intensity of flavour with wonderful depth. Full and rich in the mouth yet with a blade of acidity giving vibrancy and purity, like a summer meadow. A citric floral element tails off into the long finish. Fabulous precision!

At least this one wasn't pre-mox'd... Nice tension, decent acidity, tarty zest, oyster shell and salty minerals -- enough different notes to keep things interesting. Mouthfeel was just a tad heavy. Some heavy cream notes linger on the palate and a very slight but odd dull metallic taste.

Alvin's Lunch - March 2013 (Le Gavroche): Not as fresh (or as good) as my previous bottle in June 2012. This one was a little darker in colour with a showy and richer nose, as opposed the previous bottle which showed more citrus, salinity and minerality. Sweeter citrus on the palate with a soft and round mouthfeel. There’s decent acidity but again nowhere near as crisp and fresh as my previous bottle. Having said that, this did get better with air and seemed to freshen up a tad. Still quite enjoyable but the bottle variation is frustrating. Very good.

Opened 9 bottles. One was corked and one completely faded between opening and serving. For the remaining 8 bottles this was a lovely mature Burgundy with mineral and some candy notes on the nose, nicely balanced and a nice finish. Given the bottle variation I suspect this wine will not remain at this level for long so I would advise drinking quickly.

Very, very good wine. Manages to meld richness and heft of oaked chardonnay with minerality of great Chablis. Complex and refreshing at the same time. Smoky, touch of butter, high acidity, some citrus and chalk on the end. The only drawback for me was some rubbery notes on the nose, which blew off a bit with some air but not completely. With time, would these subside? 91-93pts for now.

Light yellow. Lemon custard and flowers. Quite elegant weight, great purity of citrus fruit and excellent acidity with only a bit of salinity. Curious in that it is hardly the most mineral or intense example of Grand Cru Chablis you'll find, but at the same time, very appealing for its fresh, pristine fruit.

Kleur: Licht strogeel Aroma / bouquet: Subtiel. Frisse, mineralige aanzet. Wat citrusfruit en een hint van rijper tropisch fruit. Vleugje roomboter. Smaak / Afdronk: Verfijnd, prettig friszuur maar tegelijkertijd mondvullend en filmend. Prachtige balans, body zonder hout-dominantie. Royale lengte. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 10 + Smaak / Afdronk: 17 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 90/100

Casual dinner at Home (Vancouver, BC): At first this was shy on the nose not giving up too much but after being opened for around an hour began to sing with classic Chablis notes of lemon, lime, salinity, stones and minerality. In the mouth this was medium bodied with good acidity with a crisp, fresh and sharp framework. Airy and delicate and not the typical succulent /round profile I usually find in Preuses. This is drinking so well right now but it’s clearly still very young and barring premox, this has 5+ years of great drinking ahead of it. Excellent. 92+

The supper club dines at Sarah's- Good times and Burgundy, Piedmont, Bordeaux and Germany. (Sarah's.): Fairly tight with not a lot going on aromatically and almost tannic structure on the palate. Good fruit levels, with citrus, stone fruits and apples rounded out by mineral and floral flavors. Shows some of the vintages fatness and the alcohol sticks out a little on the finish. The wood is integrated, though. B+.

Reticent nose, some mineral and floral. Delicious, honeyed, floral, white peach and oak taste with a long finish. A hell of a lot of complexity, but the wine closed a bit about halfway through the bottle, suggesting more cellar time needed. Very smooth and elegant. 91/92

Dark, powdery nose. Rich, chalky mouth with an extended, almost mouth filling length. Quite good, but not astounding. Seems to be only a bit shy of mature, as I don't get a lot of stuffing being held back in reserve. NA: Needs some time open. NANA: Don't serve too cold!

Light straw color, no sherry / oxidative notes, we're in business. Delicate but intriguing nose is more than happy to deliver the ever popular Chablis notes of rich shellfish wrapped in mix of flint, fresh citrus, and minerals. Late note of spearmint adds further dimension. Whether it is a product of a warmer vintage or the deliberate use of oak, no doubt this is correctley labled a "rich" wine, maybe 'fat' if you want to take a negative slant, but I was very impressed with how it stayed light on its feet from a palate weight standpoint, and was clean and precise on the finish. I think this is drinking well now, sure it can hold, but not sure what would be gained by cellaring for more than 4 to 5 years.

2005 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses (Frankrijk, Bourgogne, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru) Kleur: Strogeel Aroma / bouquet: Gemiddeld aromatisch, stuivend frisse citrustonen, vooral limoen. Roomboter zonder vanille verraadt subtiel houtgebruik. Prachtige mineraliteit. After bitching like a world-class prima donna for a few days about expensive American chardonnays I didn't really like, it was sweet to return to the real deal. I paid only about a sawbuck more for this than the others, but there was no comparison in class or quality. The Preuses was clean, sleek, and racy, impeccably balanced and offered up a very appealing apple citrus fruit profile. This wasn't profound in any sense, yet it was an impressive wine to drink in terms of what I'd call quiet and utter self-confidence. No need to be other than what it is. I imagine this will gain weight and complexity over the next five years, but I didn't want to kick myself for opening it.

Youthfully tight on the nose, but aggressive swirling produced some goodies such as lilac, sea mist, and flint. A classic Preuses palate, with none of the exotic botrytis driven characteristics sometimes prevalent from this vintage. Very feminine Chablis, but contains a quiet self assured presence and strength, with a shining core of minerals. Great lift on the finish. Just like running your fingers over a fine cashmere sweater. Revisit in 5, should be glorious then.

Wineflock - Chardonnay Shootout (My House): Group #7, My #7 - Clear yellow color. Clean pale acidic green apple nose, almost reminiscint of a good sancerre. Big tight lemon yellow fruit with clean acidity. I think this wine probably merits a little higher score but suffered in the context of this tasting against all the bigger oaked examples. It was a really lovely chablis on its own. Also, this wine seemed to show a bit younger than the other 05 GCs from Fevre I've had recently.

Tasted unblinded at the Vintage Wines, Ltd. wine bar. Pale yellow, this wine has a moderately intense, perfumed nose of white flowers and orange peel. However, it loses something on the palate, becoming thin and lacking flavor. At this point, the finish is short. I suspect that it simply needs time to fill in, but I would not risk my wine dollar on this one.

Excellent. 92+
