Straw almost honey color. Generous toasty, buttery nose, also showing inviting tropical, citrus and slate, marred by a faint underlying rubbery note. Less appealing on the palate, thinnish and slightly madeirized. This bottle was well cellared since release but is now mostly dead. Probably a representative showing, but no score.

Medium yellow with a nose of lemon and apple. On the palate a some tropical fruits and honey with a creamy mouth feel. This offset by a brisk acidity. Medium finish a little kick from the alcohol. Overall a very good wine that provides interest on all levels.

Deep yellow hinting at gold. Nose of smokey tropical fruits, plus less appealing notes of used frying oil and chicken stock. Modest hints of chardonnay character on the palate, otherwise mostly raw alcohol.

Interesting and appealing nose of fried apples, smoke, and flint gives way to a rich, creamy, mouthfilling body, with a flash of acidity and stony minerality to provide balance. The finish is long and vibrant. Very nice

Worryingly oaky nose, not much else. The palate is definitely showing a little too much oak (though restrained compared to wood juice from California), but there's a zesty acidity that's keeping it from taking over completely. Creamy texture, with a medium+ body. Hot finish on the throat from the relatively high alcohol. A good amount of lemon, but also some fairly ripe flavors - banana, mango, pineapple, apple pie. Toasty oak, with vanilla and mint (!) on the back palate. Lots of concentration and depth. Decent QPR for $18 on closeout for $15.

Crisp, less oak than expected, more stone mineral than expected, good acidty but too much to drink alone, definitley drink with food and will be a much better wine. A grilled fish would be perfect

Absolutely loved it. Tonnes of Apples and pears and definitely not your ordinary chardonnay. Excellent price and definitely stands out from the rest that I have tasted.

I had the 2004 in 2006 and loved it and its a repeat for the 2005. Always shocked when I like a chardonnay and this one is lovely. There is creamy oak here, just a light bit, not heavy like most chardonnays. This was crisp - not at all flabby, with a med to long finish. I recall paying approx. $14 for the 2004 but Tom says this is between 20 and 30 now. That seems like a lot, I mean, its only chardonnay.

Bracing acidity balanced with sweet vanilla notes from the oak; not as rich as the best Chardonnays, but an excellent QPR and a far cry from the "fake wood" flavor of many value-priced plonk

Pear on the nose, nice acid - pears, tropical fruit, with a delicious sweetness. All of this is placed in the background by overwhelming oak! -to bad. 88 pts - no more purchases of this for me.

Classic chardonnay nose with just a touch of oak and vanilla; rich, yellow fruit - mangos, pineapples; long, creamy finish. A great chardonnay for the price.

Winey Doctors Wine Basics Tasting. Medium straw color. This wine brings some melon, apple and citrus aromas, with a hefty dose of oak influenced smells, such as butterscotch and nuts. On the palate, there are citrus and starfruit notes on the attack. It maintains nice acidity, while becoming creamy on the finish with nice vanilla caramel character. A solid, balanced wine, although perhaps a bit oaky for me.

Vanilla, tropical fruits, pineapple. Nice long finish. I disagree with others, in that I felt the oak was a little overbearing for my taste. Certainly much more subtle than the majority of CA chards, though. An excellent wine that may not have been within my style preference.

Let me add my praise to the other CT'r's who have sampled this chardonnay. Of the last week's various samplings this was far and away my favorite. Superior flavor and great bouquet. Underneath the fruit and subtle oak lies this very distinctive acidity and spiciness that must be the heart and soul of the Margaret River region terroir. Really a great bottle of wine for not very much money....

Another fine effort from E&T and a remarkable value. This one could stand some patience and it will improve for at least another year or more. Grapefruit, nectarine and a hint of pineapple on the nose give way melon, peach and apple on the palate. A fine balance of oak and acidity give it a lingering finish.

I was expecting a little more from this bottle. The nose had green apple and vanilla. The palate was a little thin. The finish was a bit short.
