  • Lunch at Restaurant PRIMO for Jan 3rd 2024 (Restaurant PRIMO): This is truly wonderfully delicious. A fantastic wine, easily scoring 98 points from me, even though it is not yet mature. The nose initially reminded me of a red Bordeaux, but it soon transformed into a very polished Cabernet Sauvignon, with young, dark berry scents, a hint of tobacco, and some herbaceous notes that do not veer towards the typical bell pepper character of Cabernet Franc. In the mouth, it is an utterly magical experience of the highest quality. Rich, intense, everything in balance, with enormous complexity.

I don’t award it 100 points because the finish comes a bit abruptly as the wine doesn’t quite carry all the way through. This is probably a minor flaw of youth. Fortunately, we have another bottle we plan to let rest for another 10 years.

Rik, intensiv, allt i balans, enorm komplexitet. Anledningen till att jag inte ger det 100p är att slutet kommer lite snöpligt genom att vinet inte riktigt bär hela vägen. Förmodligen en ungdomsskavank.

Tur nog har vi ännu en flaska som vi nog låter vila 10 år.

  • After a somewhat off bottle I had last year, this one was simply beautiful after a short decant: Layers of black- and ripe raspberries, some meaty notes, mushrooms, licorice and thyme. Still quite a powerhouse with lively tannin, high acidity, opulent ripe fruit and all the more developed notes. Although the Paleo 2003 cannot deny the very hot vintage, this feels never too bold or too chubby. Excellent effort from one of Bolgheri’s finest.

  • Drank at the end of the night. Decanted for 30 mins, minimal sediment at this age. Dark purple in the glass, opening to a clear rim. The nose is generous, purple dark fruit, plums but a constant thread of leather and spice. As it continued to open the nose maintained very well. On the palate, medium plus body, smooth and well integrated. Continuation of the nose, with dark fruit, plums and white pepper, cinnamon and leather. Some heat with the alcohol percentage, given the hot year, but well balanced.

Would not have guessed a pure Cab Franc, had the complexity of high quality bdx. Really great - shows the quality of the producer. Open for business and good to go!

  • Explosive nose with green pepper dominating. As it opened up there were more cherries and oak on the nose. To me this was a clear example of old world Cab Franc (I believe I would have guessed this if tasting blind). My friend stated this was more in a California style that I really didn't agree with. we did agree however that this was in a great place and was very tasty.

Day 2 the nose is much darker berries with less peppers. Tastes excellent but doesn't have the long finish as day 1

  • Enticing aromatics. Clean, bright color. Deeply flavored. Well-integrated tannins. A winner.

  • Decanted and served. full on well made modern super Tuscan. Rich, ripe, sweet ripe core, fleshy and firm. Silky tannin, big on the alcohol , 14%, but has the stuffing to carry that very well. Quite at an interesting stage of its life too, past the puppy oak fat that usually Paleos have young but still very much alive and full on. a solid 92 and we would suggest one drinks now

  • Tasted blind during the lunch. Bottle was opened and left for bottle breath about an hour.
Intense dark garnet with good vibrant hue, nose is fresh and expressive with bright red fruits, toasted oak, dark berry fruits, spice and hints of leather. It has a fresh entry with sweet and bright fruits and showing ripe fruits on palate, exhibits blackberry, plum and black cherry. Medium bodied with structure showing up at mid-palate, firm and dry. Ending with dried herbs and spicy aftertaste and grippy tannins.
This bottle showing amazingly well and fresh, and gradually develop some earthy rustic notes during 2 hours of drinking. Very well made for a hot vintage, showing sweet and ripe fruits but not pungent.

  • Great wine in a great window. Huge nose dominated by bell peppers. Nice acid. Dark chocolate on the finish. Big and complex.

  • WS Offline (Lucio's BYOB - Houston): Very nice Cab Franc character with black fruit and herbal notes. Lots of oak influence in the way of coffee and chocolate - perhaps a bit much for my tastes. Lowish acidity and a very rich, intense palate. A fine wine - not my style.

  • Super Toscan & Brunello di Montalcino evening (Maraboo restaurant): dark red-black color
    tertiary earthy 'green' aromas
full body, rich, spicy, savory flavors, good tannins & bitterness, balanced acidity, good harmony, greenery, enjoyable aftertaste.

  • Casual night @ Giant Garoupa: Opps, very strange or rather too hot as the wine display burn tyre smell which masked over the dusty earthy, roasted herb, green capsicum, meaty and blackberry aromas. This too has rich, sweet entry with highly extract oak, powdery tannin with alcohol heat along with jammy dark fruits, dark chocolate, coffee with very bitter, alcohol heaty finish. This has very good weight on the palate but somehow kinda imbalance and acidity for the lift and precision, perhaps due to this super hot vintage. My friend who tried this bottle next day commented that the wine showing much better, turn from a beast to a gentleman. Tannin resolved and it's more balanced but acid a bit low, still a bit hot. Buy - No.
