Last of 6, pnp, perfect level, soaked cork, surprisingly little changed since 2016, lightish gold maybe, but perfectly balanced fruit flavours still energetic, lovely balance and fine lift, no upside but no rush. VF (18.5).......little changed from open bottle on second night.

Really a wonderful aged Auslese with just a touch of sweetness left. Quite layered with rich apricot fruit and tons of minerals and petrol flavors. Finishes quite complex and fresh with tangy tangerine and green notes. Lovely now but will go longer...

Deep golden colour. Intense nose of passionfruit, peach and a petrol note, that is distinctly intenser than a previous bottle two years ago. On the palate great poise between the long and intense fruit of passionfruit, mango, peach and the petrol note. All in all it is still a real fruit bomb, but the elegance and complexity I remember is not there from this bottle. Still outstanding, but I'm not sure how it will evolve in the future. However the cork has to be replaced if it is cellared for many more years, because the corks are fully soaked despite textbook cellaring. 5/13/19/8

5th of 6, pnp but drunk over 3 days, perfect level but damp cork, previous notes very fine and this bottle no exception, absolutely a point and a touch fresher than last weeks #24 of same vintage, very long and complex, the perfect aperitif!

deep golden colour, first concentrated passion fruit killing everything else. Then with time adding scents of honey, quince, some hints of petrol, peach and slate. Without swirling hints of cedar emerge from the glass. Concentrated flavors but at the same time light and with great poise. The finish is long and refreshing. This is great stuff. Fully mature of course the cork is limiting further aging potential. Because sweet old Auslese is rarely sweet enough for or go with dessert, drink it on its own or as aperitif. There is a lot of waxy sediment in the bottle which has no negative influence. Nevertheless I wouldn't recommend decantation.

Deep golden yellow. Shining and lively! Subtle and complex aromas of Yellow and Tropical Fruits in a play of Melon, Peach, Orange, Passion Fruit and others. Hints of Cedar! Soft Honey and obvious traces of Herbs, Chamomile and Mint. Little Petrol and vibrant Freshness! Multilayered, very fine and exciting as it delivers new nuances over the time of tasting again and again! Flavors of Ripe Yellow and Exotic Fruits- mostly Peach, Apricot, Lemon and Passion Fruit. Some Apples. Again Honey and Herbs (Lovage, Chamomile) with delicious Sweetness of Cake. Perfectly balanced and softly textured. Finishes long and playful. Gentle Acidity, Filigree Minerality and Herbal notes. Great finesse, many details, plus vitality and freshness!
A wine probably at its maximum! Nicely integrated components, aged, but still fresh with decent fruit. Optimum balance in a delicious and sophisticated Auslese, which combines fine delicateness with great flavor concentration. Very good now, but still able to rest for some more years. Rhone and Riesling dinner (Jade Palace, Forum Galleria): Another "wow" nose. A drop of pertrol, little bits of earth and then tons of botrytis with beautiful scents of peach, apricots, sweet melons and watermelon. Incredible balance and poise on the palate, which was every bit as gorgeous as the nose, with fresh acid lifting uber-fleshy fruit in the shape of ripe lemons and sweet red apples. Classic Mosel at the finish, with lots of slatey minerals kicking in with the apples. Will gain even more complexity with time I think, but gorgeous even now.

Asher's note: Excellent wine. Petrol nose, but not overly so. Very cohesive on the palate, to the point that the acidity, while substantial, is completely recessed behind the secondary flavors which include apple pie. Lovely midpalate spine. A terrific starter.
