  • The 2001 Chateau de Fonselatte Blanc is a textbook Southern Rhone white, yellow colour with waxy ripe tropical fruits, nuts and herbal note. Tasted blind and immediately went to Southern Rhone based on the medicinal tone and ripe tropical fruits. Great intensity. Peach, slight honied, probably got a few years of age. Full bodied however low acidity. Southern Rhone white blend? 2012? (83/100)

  • Made by the Chateau Rayas team.
    Blanc : grenache (80%), clairette (10%), marsanne (10%)
Very nice color. A little darker than I would have thought.
Great nose with ripe white fruits. Peach/Pear syrup and star fruit. Velvety, med acidity, good mid palate with again nice white fruits flavor rounded by spicy oak. At times it reminded me also of some Cognac flavors (without the alcohol of course). Nice and long finish. Overall a great Cotes du Rhone with good complexity and good balance (maybe a touch of heat on the finish).
Took 3 days to truly open up.
    Drink or hold 4-5 years.
