Soft an slightly smoky initially, develops vanilla and butter with time. Opens up beautifully - toffee, werther's original caramels, buttery caramels. Medium + acidity, a bit of white fruits and a pinch of pineapple as well. Finish is long with prominent acidity, sweet tartness and caramelised onions. Outstanding.

Shane's Last Night Dinner (Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong): Bronzed yellow gold. Nose of eastern spice smoke, melted butter, crushed roasted whole lemons. ....very alluring. Palate is really smooth and mellow medium-level acidity that frames rich, buttery well-integrated oak, good finish of semi-dried whole lemons and super slate and crushed rock minerals. Great richness and reverberant length. Great balance. Lots of life ahead of it. Considerably better than the 1996 that we drank recently....the very appealing smokiness and depth is what characterizes this particular vintage.

Old golden color very well done, very fine and well balanced wine with a good bit of complexity. In the background a whiff of acetic acidity. For some it might taste too old; I liked the wine a lot. certainly much more than the preceeding wine from Olivier Leflaive.

Honeysuckle, nectar, caramel, and toffee on the nose and palate. Palate was ripe but it had sufficient acidity to boost its freshness.
