  • Wanted it to be good. Too much age. Two dimensional. Alcohol/acid and bitter remains of tannins. On and off the pallet in seconds.

  • A Few Older Oregon Pinots; 4/6/2013-4/12/2013: Decanted 1.5 hours. Bright crimson color. Equal parts savory and sweet notes on the nose. Bright and lifted with lots of red cherry, meat, and savory herb aromas. Juicy, bright flavors with cherry, cranberry and sweet spices. Light on its feet with a refreshing finish, this could continue to provide pleasure for few more years. Drink now through 2016.

  • Decanted 2 hours. Deep and radiantly bright color right to the rim. Briary nose of rose hips, berry leaves, sweet and savory spices. Bright, smooth and powerful on the palate with firm black cherry flavors. Tannins are sill in evidence and the finish is long and dry. Structured and a bit "four square" still, I would give this a bit more time in the cellar. Drink 2012 to 2015.

  • Medium body. Cherry and strawberry flavors dominate. The sweetness is very pleasant, dominating the acid, sour-pencil bitterness, that I find unpleasant in a lot of pinots. I've had one spectacular pinot noir, and nothing since has measured up to my memory, so I'm a hard sell. Given that history, this is a very pleasant wine, and I offer 86 pts is as a positive measure. I'm at 70-74 for all that pinot plonk they serve at the restaurants. Why bother! Cheap zinfandel is usually at least adequate, something you can't say for cheap pinot noir.

I bought this at the winery, and it is truly a gorgeous piece of Heaven/Oregon: up on a ridge-top with rolling vineyards, surrounded by forests with valleys in the distance. Makes me want to buy such a vineyard, just for the view.

  • Clear, almost garnet red. Very fragrant nose - sour red cherry, raspberry, green olive, cedar spice, mineral & earth. All red fruit & spice in the mouth. Crisp acidity, smooth tannins, medium body. Went really well with grilled salmon.
