From a Jeroboam: Oxidative and nutty. Moss and fishtank notes. Golden fruits. Petrichor. Beautiful smoky mushrooms and nuts. V nice. Maybe past its prime, but this opened up with time in the glass.

I would never guess this is 26 yrs old - still has everything: honey, peach, dancing acidity and long finish. And all in balance. The last note says it well, “delightful’. Ethereal

Deep golden yellow. Honey-ish texture, tiny bit of oxidation. Just delightful on the palate. Good acidity, some peach and apricot flavors, but all about superb 25 year old balance.

Magnum Dinner for the Ages (and Aged)-Ponsot, Chave... (La Tour d'Argent, Paris): Magnum. Full yellow, slightly deeper than the Champagne. Secondary Riesling perfume, vegetal notes, and more peach with air. A lighter, more delicate Clos Ste. Hune that is not as fiercely acidic or focused as some, but the trade off was a wonderful, gentle, mellow roundness which made it a great match with a rich quenelle dish. Not an all time great, but for god's sake, a ridiculously good showing for a 25 year old dry white wine.

Needs a good 30 minutes post open to get its stride and develop . Would not suggest decanting but just let it breath a bit. Very much a Riesling, light caramel notes, light petrolly, good fruit core. Firm core of polished acidity, elegant and vibrant still, layered and a class act. Gives a feeling at times it has residual sugar but really it's just the evolution of it we think. 93

Mad for Magnums (Ai Fiori - New York NY): From magnum. Slightly tropical fruit aromas with lots of petrol character and a bit of lychee. Lush, ripe, forward and powerful on palate with a huge spice element start-to-finish. Definitely shorter and less interesting when revisited 4 hours later at the conclusion of dinner.

A point and beautiful as only Clos Ste.-Hune can be.
