Very good condition. Drinking very well after 1 hour air time. Toasted coffee, vanilla, tea with sweet black and red fruits in the background, good finish though not very long, but already very enjoyable.

Suprisingly good this time. Cork is still good, meaning good condition. Brown in color, a bit turbid, sweet and juicy red fruits, light to medium bodied and some sweet herbal flavours and cherry. Quite elegant and drinking very nicely.

Mature but in good shape. Forest floor, tobacco, sweet spices, mushrooms characterise the nose. On the palate, there is a nice attack and good structure. Has a long and sweet finish.

Appearance brick red, translucent, very slight fade at rim. Nose of graphite, iron, ferrous minerals, some cedar. Palate quite light, feminine, some grip, fruit largely faded. Now at 38 years of age I think limited time left - drink up soon.

Still drinkable, with ripe fruits on the palate. Tea like flavour dominates, a bit old and less attractive in front of Chasse Spleen 2000. Maybe breathing time is not enough? I don’t know.

A bit disappointed again. The cork was nearly saturated. Breath for 1 hr, still young ripe black currant, a little hint of cigar and coffee. That's. No finish at all.
P.S. it was bought in owc..

Cork was a disaster, but the wine drank beautifully. Fully resolved tannins. Acidity remains excellent. Blind I would have guessed many years younger. Leather, muted oak. Great.

For lunch at Houstons Decanted for 10 mins at home and then off to the restaurant. A beautifully aged Bordeaux with great nose and silky on the palate. Plenty of fruit with very soft almost resolved tannins. Wouldn't wait too much longer to drink. Wine is very balanced now

Courtesy of John for this fine aged Bordeaux at its mellow peak, perhaps on the decline - bit short. Of the 83, 85 and 90 in my experience, only the 90 had an edge of being fuller (from memory). The terroir was unmistakable though.

Sweet, juicy red cherries, red plums, and blackcurrant on the palate, lots of tobacco and a hint of leather on the nose, very elegant, tertiary notes evident, melting tannins, clearly bordeaux nose, some earthy notes - wet leaves, graphite, and a hint of herbs, capsicum, and leather on the long finish. Delicious!

good long cork, level mid-neck, slightly brownish cherry red but perfect for age, lovely nose, all finesse and fine complex warm fruit, real finesse and balance on the palate but lovely complex fruit, poise and warmth, the best Chasse Spleen I have had, it is the class and finesse that is remarkable

This took a while to open up, but never turned into a rich, full bodied Bdx. Some black currant & herbs on the shy nose. Same on the mid-weight, round but austere palate. There's not much fruit, but cabernet seems to dominate, and there's some tobacco on the back end. Barely any tannins left, the finish is nice, delicate, and lingers for a bit. A pleasant wine but past it's prime with some classic Bdx character but not much charm.

Mature garnet colour, still strong ruby core. Very aromatic, showing almost entirely secondary characters. Cedar, leather, clove, earth, wild mushroom, farmyard and cooked red berries. Still intense and powerful. Similar palate, good structure, excellent length and still reasonably noticeable tannin. Fully mature, but should hold up another year or two and drink very nicely.

1982 Bordeaux tasting; 11/5/2010-11/6/2010 (Bremen, Germany): From double magnum. Surprisingly, this showed slightly weaker than an ordinary bottle opened in the same flight. A bit more fat with the same cherry and tobacco notes, but not of the same complexity.

Tasted at a NCWS "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" tasting. This is somewhat faded now, but has held up quite well considering its age. A little dry on the finish. There is some complexity and sweetness, but it would have been better 5 to 10 years ago.

A good, even mature garnet colour. Initially there is some (mainly) blackcurrant fruit and some (lesser) blackberry fruit on the nose, though that quickly blows off to give way to hints of coffee, cigars and pencil shavings. Just a very tiny bit high toned. Fully mature and ready on the palate. This is a very nice mature claret, possibly a bit luncheon-y, but very nice. Excellent balance. Good soft red fruits are balanced and supported by the structure provided by lots of integrated tannins. Very nice, though not particularly thrilling.
Remarkable absence of sediment.

This has the classic cedar/pencil shavings on the tongue of a mature Bordeaux. This is a nicely crafted quaff that probably saw its prime a wee bit ago. Nevertheless, it has the complexity and appeal to the eye, nose, and tongue that make this a, yes, compelling wine. The finish is too short and the structure has broken down a bit, but this is an '82 that is by no means representative of that storied vintage, but a nice drink all the same.

Our host called this: “The French Dead Corpses Tasting”. (@ PV): Beautiful bouquet with ripe fruit juice and a pleasant dose of oak. On the palate ripe blackberries and blueberries and autumn forest floor. Beautifully soft acidity and round, juicy tannin, full bodied and a good future. The wine still has a good bite and future.

The bottle I drank in 1999 was not my own and probably stored too warm. Today the wine was significantly better. Some dark fruit left, good oak. Not extremely full bodied for a 1982, but still a very nice wine.
