Bottle no 24760 ; 28245 bottles produced, 1963 a disappointing vintage across the whole of the region. The La Tâche had a brown color with no ruby left. A very ripe and fully mature nose of caramel and spices, on the palate spectacular middle weight flavors of brown sugar, earth and hints of truffle, that completely coat the palate and explode on the slightly sugary finish. A great surprise and a stunning effort for the vintage. This is all about mature Burgundy Wow!

This is very alive and far better than a previous bottle opened a few months ago. Has a nose reminiscent of sweet sherry. There is a lot of fruit here. Cherry, fig, clove and stone flavors all come out in layers. Good medium weight, and nice length on the finish. Fill level was very good. Dark, caramel color.

Edward Roberts International Pre-Auction Tasting (Union League Club of Chicago): Edward Roberts International Pre-Auction Wine Tasting. Crazy dark tangerine brown color in the glass. Intense aromas of marmalade, yellow apples, cranberries and lots of cinnamon. Baking spices surrounding this wine lead to a long and clean finish. This may have been better some years ago but it's still a gorgeous wine today. Awesome first DRC experience.

A Mid-1980's Tasting of Twenty One Vintages of La Tâche (1945-1980) (Private residence, San Francisco): Watery looking. Awful combination of underripeness, maderization, and artificial sugariness. Can't bring myself to taste this one. Wretched.
