lots of discussion about whether or not this was corked. two super sensitive tasters present = eventual acceptance. i thought the wine was unexciting but drinkable which reveals another layer of discussion about corks.

Tasted vs a 2007 AP Vin Turner's. This wine was simply gorgeous. A stunning Volnay, fully mature with all the complexity and nuance that on should expect. Berry, spice, forest floor, mint, smoke, vanilla, avocado (yep, indeed) iodine, band-aid, mouthwash, cassis. It was all over the place over a period of 2 hours. We tasted 8 wines. This was WOTN for EVERY taster. Andrew, it wasn't fair. In 2017, your Turner will be as good I'd bet.

Far more primary and fruit driven than I expected. Mocha and the like have disappeared and the berry notes with lush textures are dominant. Just beautifully Volnay.

This wine is dangerous. Opened with every intention of enjoying it with a mongo steak and sides. Before the cooking operations were complete, the bottle was 2/3 empty and I had to walk away from it to let my wife have some.
Wild strawberries and slightly bitter acids on the front, a new wrinkle. Same exquisite textures and lushness. Good finish with persistent berry notes and mocha. Delicious stuff.

Still quite delicous. More lush and voluptuous this time. Soft mocha notes in the core and a very light structure, but robed in pure fruit with velvet texture. Just gorgeous. Outside patio drinking at a peak level.

Good nose with primarily sap and cocoa. Suprisingly straight-up friendly immediately on opening - so much so that I drank 1/2 the bottle while cooking. Smooth fruit, some earth, very airy structure. Elements of strawberry, cocoa, clay - but very subtle. Not overtly complex, but a good depth overall. Excellent to drink and perfect with dinner of steak frites.

Lots of fruit still clanging with a voluptuous profile. Earthy tones and solid bones finish. Really good.

G6 (Rick): Garnet color. Earthy raspberry nose. Bitter metallic finish. Seems slightly corked as the night drew on.

Another bottle back to more primary with a great lift and lacey presence.

Consistent with previous - very rich textured fruit and a nice mocha core. Lovely drinking.

Man, is this good. Consistent notes with previous, but more depth and focus and structure. Entirely too quaffable. Still perfect with steak.
