Bottle from Charlie Bird. Medium yellow color. On the nose cinnamon, spice and loads of nuance and complexity. Still decent acidity and fruit. Highly unique and one of a kind wine. Minor brett but not bothersome. A great experience to drink this.

Five Decades of Leroy (Charlie Bird): Diesel, oily, ginger, pineapple, lacquered. High alcohol. Hard to figure out... have only experienced a handful of these wines before, and certainly never this old, and still can't quite explain. Smoke in here too. Very interesting baking spices. Ian described these as 'wacko' wines. Pleasurable and interesting drinking.

Only mid straw in colour, surprisingly. A still fresh nose with a greener fruit profile - soft melon, pear drop, maybe kiwi - and then a slightly but not very oily palate with sufficient freshness. Became a little richer across the evening. Lovely ****++

Private Chef dinner at Yann's new place (Flatiron District, Manhattan, New York): Very old - smells like Brandy or Eau-de-Vie. Smell of banana bread and white flowers. Unctuous but old on the palate with perfume of the banana bread. Elegant with a touch of honey. Salty/saline at the end with pear brandy - Calvados. Interesting but past its prime. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 4/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14/20.

Chave at Palate (Glendale, CA.): Color is dark for a Blanc showing it's age. Closed t first, but after 30 minutes began to show focused flavors of grilled/roasted nuts, buterscotch, marzipan and honey, surprisingly fresh. The palate is unctous with minerals. Finish is somewhat short. Still has plenty of life though the palate is on the deline.
