2.5-3 hour double decant. Full body. Throwing some fine sediment. Slightly cloudy robe. Dark fruits with some slightly excessive tannic tension. Nice finish.

Browning robe. Medium to full body. Swirling trail of sediment in my glass on the first pour and throughout. The nose upon opening has either some Bret or VA that is very offputting, but strangely this is not present on the palate, which is dominated by dark fruits. It blows off over about 1.5 hours and I highly suggest letting this occur. Nice balance. I think this is nearing peak and would suggest drinking up. Do not smell the nose when you first open it, just drink it and let it breathe!

Last tasting of this wine was 8 years ago and I thought it was on its way out. Nope. Going strong, stronger then ever. Nose of darker red fruit with a touch of pleasant bret. Nice sweetness reminiscent of luxardo cherries and a solid backbone of darker red fruit. Mid weight with acid core in the background holding it together. Brilliant. Still has time.

More advanced than I expected. With a few hours of air, some fruit emerges and this becomes more harmonious. Regardless, this mostly came across as generic old Burgundy rather than Fourrier 1er.

Probably nearing its peak but enough staying power for at least several years. Nice balance of acid and reserved fruit. Perhaps lacks some complexity but very nice all around.

Needless to say, the nose is a bit closed down, although there is some fruit and earth lurking. The palate gives more, with some dark fruits, good sap, and a nice crisp finish. Fourrier's elegant style is very evident here, but I will let the rest of these sit for several more years.

Terroir-istes International - France, Burgundy, Echézeaux & Vougeot (Rodwell House): Light+ crimson colour with orange rim. The bouquet is initially farmyard pong but slowly morphs to air dried meat, Sous-Bois, tinned cherry and mineral. Rather good nose and this continues onto the palate with bright acidity, ripe red cherry, rhubarb and sweet notes. Medium bodied, the wine is intense and has good depth of flavour, well structured with solid chalky tannins yet wonderful finesse. There is a subtly to the wine that is utterly appealing, clean lines and a persistent length.

Sappy sweet fruit and an earthy rusticity married to it. A bit high toned but neither volatile nor hot. Quite nice if far from complex or transcendental!

Savoury dusty and earthy, very upfront wine with good sweetness, touches of both red and black fruits. Ripe but certainly not flabby, fine acids and a tannic vinous sappy component that persists. Perhaps a little short on the palate, I think closing down a little as the core material is certainly there, a little disjointed right now.

Nice one from Fourrier, with his characteristic light touch. Glad it's not too late to get an early look on the material of these '05s. It does start out a little closed in itself but blossoms quickly enough, picking up a plush texture, a slick veneer, and fine, silken tannins. But in terms of actual fruit flavor it's very restrained, with a gritty stoniness at least as prominent as the fruit itself.
