  • Very dark cherry. Nose of grape jelly and earth. Simple palate with coarse tannins and more earth to go with the fruit. Elevated acidity, tolerable alcohol. Simple and linear. Better than the last bottle, but still not good.

  • Deep cherry color. Nose of oak, yeast, menthol, dark cherry. Downhill from there. Initial mouthcoating feel, very muted flavors similar to the nose, with a Welch's grape juice component, a hint of bitter tobacco, harsh alcohol and minimal tannins. Short and bland finish. This bottle may have been slightly off. Probably okay for cooking, too awkward for sipping.
