Decent 2003 shiraz with 15.5% alc. Surprisingly not that hot.. Reasonably balanced for what it is. Maybe better 10 years ago when the fruit was richer, but still pleasant and a very good pairing with chicken curry masala.

Plush, yet aged Shiraz. More leather and tobacco, with blackberry and dark cherry fruit. Does not have the chocolatey richness of some better aged Shiraz. That said, this is pretty tasty, nice savoury notes with a little dried fig and blackberry finish.

This was deep and rich in colour with only a little lightening at the rim. Nose seemed a little muted, blackberry and currant but not as expressive as expected. Palate had some nice sweetness but again seemed a little lacking. Think this was a little tainted.

Full nose of ripe black fruit with distinct herbal/mint and meaty complexity. Medium bodied and exceptionally juicy in the mouth. The riper, fuller black fruit just floats across the palate. Real nice freshness and weightlessness. Big spice kick accents moderate depth and complexity. Well made and quite pleasing. Should hold for 5+ years.

Last of three bottles tried over time. A bottle I tried few years ago had a cork that crumbled badly, and I had no high hopes for this bottle, thinking it was a risk to ty and probably faded. Was I ever wrong. It turned out to be one of the best wines I've had this year. Cork pulled solid, no infiltration, and stained inky black. Fruity bouquet upon opening. Smooth, fruit flavored but not excessive, no rough edges, tannins well integrated, wonderfully balanced, exceptionally well drinking wine. Aged for 13 years. When I buy a wine I think can aged and improve, this is what I want to experience when I finally open and enjoy. Tannins well developed and still a bit left but not intrusive. Last glass threw some sediment. Recommended.

Very dark red slight brick at edge. Mature, meaty, blackberry, some high notes, too. Very attractive. Medium + body, red and black berries, berry syrup. Delicious and in a perfect spot with the dusty tannin being just enough.

Inky, red with considerable sediment. Open for 2 hours. Black berries, oak, caramel and alcohol - reminds me of brandy. Deep dark fruit, dusty, tart. Certainly powerful and heady. Finishes firmly with blackberry jam. Medium length finish. Attractive today but with the stuffing to keep going.

Great extraction, still. Full body, sweet fruit with dry, soft tannins and enough oak to feel like a much younger wine. Lovely. Glad I still have another one.

Amazing that it's 1) still holding up so well, and so fresh tasting for a 10-year-old, and 2) drinks like a much more expensive bottle of ShiRazzz! Had this to honor a young ladies birthday. Born the same year as this wine. Both are still sassy. (now I'll talk about the wine) Red fruit at the start, dark cherry, a bit sweet, velvety, layers. Later some hazelnut begins to show, then vanilla. I'd agree with the window listed, it's still amazing, but I'm afraid in maybe 3 years this one will fall off the ledge. Drink now if you like some vigor, save it for a year or two for Big Smooth, but don't wait much longer than that.

bot these ages ago & finally pulled from the depths of the cellar. Qualifier: I have so little experience with Aussie wine and although I do enjoy CA Central Coast and Rhones, you can pretty much ignore this review.
This 2003 Tatiarra Shiraz Cambrian is a very pretty wine. I decanted for a couple hours and poured, just gorgeous with the setting sun complementing the pour. Nose is a bit restrained. Thought it backed off a bit from the decant. Which is consistent with the glass and this wine, they like one another. The more time in the glass, the more this wine grows. 10 years old going on 5. Well rounded and integrated. Brambly notes, lovely viscosity, not too sweet with a refined well stated spectrum of moderate complexity. However, during dinner there's a hole that jars the acidity and the resolved tannins against one another. I dunno it made me think twice and that is what keeps me from scoring higher - much as I deplore scores. About 3 hrs in, drinking solo and this drinks more complete yet sweeter, a character that detracts. Something like 5 more bottles in the cellar, will not bury too far as I suspect these may dry out over the next 3-4 years. Then its OTH. Longest review I have written in quite a while, if you read this far...

Vanilla, blueberries, cherry, hints of fresh oak. The palate is rounded and soft, velvety tannin, hints of chocolate, smoke oak, dark ripe cherry with nice, long finish, and lingering vanilla flavour. Absolutely stunning. If cellared carefully, this wine still have a bit to go.

Had this about two years ago, so decided it was time to taste again. The cork on that bottle fell apart; not this time. The bouquet was one of the strangest I've ever experienced. I could detect a faint scent about an inch from the glass, but was completely odorless when I put my nose in the glass. In fact, it took better that a half hour for the bouquet to begin to emerge. But what it lacked in bouquet it made up for in taste. The taste was every bit as good as I recalled. Not overly dense but just right. This was not overly fruit driven the first time, and it is about the same now. Taste of something like cigar at the finish. Alcohol completely hidden. Fair amount of acidity still present. Full bodied but not overwhelming. Threw a silty sediment in the last glass that a Vinturi couldn't filter. So fine you would have to use a filter paper to remove it but was not a problem. I have one more left, and I want to give this about five more years to see what occurs. CT says drink by 2015, but I think this could make it easily for another five years, possibly to 2023. Based on how long it took for both the flavors and bouquet to come out, a decant of at least 1/2 hour might be in order. Recommended.

A lively, fresh Shiraz, with excellent structure and balance, despite the high alcohol content. Spicy blackberry bramble, blueberry, cayenne pepper, and licorice. At one point, shortly after opening, I was getting a noseful of Ovaltine malt, which several hours later is closer to toffee.

Top 1/3 of cork fell apart on opening but I was able to pry it out. It was not corked or infiltrated; I think it was just a soft but sealed cork. Amazing intense fruity bouquet from bottle, cork stained very deep purple, almost black. Poured then through Vinturi. Very nice shiraz, balanced, dense, no heat. First wave of legs ran medium, the next very slow and fat. Now, about 2 hours later, bouquet subsided and mid-palate very weak, the wine is slithering around and morphing on its way to...what? Very nice and dense wine, and one of the better Shiraz's from Oz's. Seems like there is enough guts in wine for it to age 5, maybe 10 years. I will try my second perhaps within 5 years. a solid 93 with room for improvement.
