  • Fully mature and now unctuous and layered with concentrated yellow fruit, honeyed mineral and spice accents. Still plenty fresh and long. Delightful.

  • PnP. Flinty minerality, moving to gravel and then river stones with time. Lemon skin also. Lemon skin on the palette too, bracing acidity, tart lemon flesh, some under ripe stone fruit with time. The attack is quite delicate, but the flavours go on and on. Definitely waxy lemon skin, tart lemon flesh, and oak providing weight and seasoning rather than overt oaky flavours. The length is something else. Everything is in balance, and is really restrained and controlled like a ballerina. Highly youthful, if I was told that it was 2017 I would believe it. On the third glass even more purity.

  • Pours an exceptionally youthful deep lemon. The youthfulness continues on the nose which is reductive upon opening with gun flint, waxy lemon peel, and dry stones. With time aromas of white peach, white flowers, and the faintest hint of white chocolate start to make itself known. Relatively light on its feel - a wine more about restraint than power where the fruit profile is tart, the concentration more than respectable, and the acidity bright. This belies its age.

  • This has reached a nice level of maturity with no sign of premox. Delicious flavors of aged lemons and apples with notes of gun-smoke and a touch of mint. There is good acidity here which keeps it fresh and the finish shows a fine, subtle and nutty complexity with hints of soft caramel and chalky minerals. Quite an elegant CC and definitely ready now.

  • The color is beginning to deepen and the nose has lovely notes of sweet corn kernel, chalky minerals, struck match and spearmint. More elegant than powerful but this is aging slowly and shows more concentration and complexity than a couple of years ago. Lots of gunflint and mineral flavors and quite authentic tasting if still a little shy. Will always be a lighter, finer and more elegant style.

  • Rich fruity nose and rich texture. Still quite young and oak is evident in both the nose and the palate.

  • Quite understated and still obviously young yet this wine offers a hint of its potential in the tingly, spicy finish. Made in a high-acid, restrained style but with good underlying chalky fruit, I believe this will blossom with a few more years of bottle age. 91+

  • Potent nose of sharp lemons and minerals. Quite young and tightly wound but classy and intense with a tremendous chalky, carbon minerality. Ultra-oily texture with strong acidity and real character of flavor. This is stony, pure CC that should age well. 92+

  • This is wound up very tight. Intensely mineral with white flowers, smoke, crushed rocks, honey, lemon zest... great concentration. Slow to reveal itself on the palate, it is hard and youthful but beautiful and balanced and what it shows is quite excellent. Finishes very long with honey and white flowers. Classic Corton Charlemagne that shows tons of character instead of tons of wood. I really like it. I wouldn't open one again for 3 years. Here's hoping there is no premox to worry about. Perhaps 89 for drinking now, this bottle is all about the upside down the road.
