Been sitting on this one for a long time. Finally opened last night based on other tasting notes that it won't get any better. Decanted for an hour and started to drink. Very nice but still needed another hour. After 2 hours it really opened up. Extremely enjoyable with ribs. Tannins were completely gone, not hot and long finish. This is definitely at or slightly beyond its peak. Drink up now!!

(Coravined first night, pnp'd following night) Nicely aged Barossa shiraz, fairly muted nose of blueberries, mocha, a touch of herbs. Smooth attack and midpalate, with fully integrated tannins and just enough acidity. Biggish-styled, clearly new world, but not over the top. Will go another 3-5 years but won't improve. Fairly good value for the $24 I paid for it back in the day (albeit from PC).

Dark, almost black. Decanted 20 minutes and let develop in the glass. Nose of espresso, licorice, tar, blueberries in that order. A bit hot, but good mid and long finish that ends with just enough acidity.

Decanted 45 minutes. Strong coconut and eucalyptus oil moving to menthol on the nose, blackberry liqueur, black licorice, and dark chocolate on the nose. Heavily oaked, coconut and eucalyptus, shortbread, prune, lots of thick black fruits. Not the most complex wine, but well done for the style.

Best wine of the evening, appropriately called The Bishop. Immediate burst of coconut to the nose, along with strong oak; odd but enjoyable mix. ... Buttery to the taste, with some buttercream and licorice. Overall fruit but hard to detect specifics. ... Subsequent nose opened the nasal passages but with pleasant menthol. Recommend.

Still dark red, almost black. Nose a little muted, with blackberry and leather. Fruit a little subdued compared to earlier bottles. (Not necessarily a bad thing). This probably is nearing the time to drink these up. Opened for a friend that has interest in Barossas.

Work Wine Tasting - Riesling, Pinot & Syrah (Home): Dark, dense ruby. Bight nose of blue-black fruit with a slightly smoky leathery edge. Round and creamily smooth attack, blue-fruited. Leather, some spice and some minerlity through the mid-palate to a reasonably longn and smooth finish. Full, but nicely mellow now such that the 14.5abv doesnt show. Opened to check on Wed eve for a tasting on Thurs eve (just a glass gone) and then restoppered and stored in the fridge until drinking Sunday lunchtime. Not my normal style of wine, but lovely with a chargrilled cote de boeuf. Just right. ****

Allowed to breathe in the bottle for 2 hours. Nose of blueberry, anise and some mint. Full bodied with lots of ripe black and blue fruits. Lots of blackberry and blueberry with notes of leather, smoke and black pepper. Smooth and elegant mouthfeel. On the mid palate there is some typical Aussie chalkiness which quickly gives way to pepper and spice. The finish is about 30 seconds and features some spice and smooth tannins. This wine is beautifully balanced with plenty of fruit to go with nice structure and complexity. Still showing plenty of primary fruit and should drink at this level for several years. I hope my younger Glaetzer wines age this well. Worth seeking out!

Dark purple/black, looks like crude oil in the glass. A representative Barossa Shiraz, this has black licorice, extremely ripe black fruit--nearly overripe, plum and blackberry along with liqueur notions of those fruits, smoke, and bitter dark chocolate edges. Similar profile on palate, loses concentration on midpalate and gets a bit astringent on the finish, but overall a really nice bottle.

Nose of raspberry and spicy cedar. Wine edges are pale and particles are visible. Tons of sediment. Raspberry with tobacco and tar on the finish. Hints of cedar mid-palate. Extremely well integrated. Mid to long finish.

Full colour. Blueberry, plum and blackcurrant fruit with a smokey edge and some savouriness. Creamy, smooth, full-fruited attack, rounded and quite mellow texture-wise with nice balance and only the faintest hint of heat on the finish. This is big but surprisingly elegant and really quite pleasant. Some complexity though it feels a little one-dimensional in the middle-palate. Might tire after a bottle of this but it's certainly a good match to a grilled rib-eye. Lovely now. ***1/2

Big leathery nose, very dense and silky, still lots of fruit left but cassis and anise hold the stage longest. Final glass was most interesting, with hay and cedar notes arriving late. Shortish finish is the only thing holding me back from calling this a 92.

Opened 1st bottle from cellar as a late night desert substitute, after a great dinner w/ Bordeaux. Bought 6 bottles of this years ago and just never opened one. Well, one of the better Australian Barossa's I have had. Let me first say, IMO this is not a food wine, but it is a rich, enjoyable after dinner mouthful. Dark almost black in color. Primary nose of blueberries and licorice, but later smoke, cigar box, earth, leather, and more. Tannins are on the finish but in balance with the aged fruit and acid. Just twirl the glass, and bam, something new hits you. Not sweet, not alcohol hot, just a great syrah...A little left for the next night and even more complex and enjoyable (after dinner).
