second bottle, very good but not quite as good as the last if I'm being picky but it was better with an hour or two of air in particular on the palate so maybe this one just had more life in it. I would buy it again....so much different than the modern day Gibourg in a good way, I like the new wines too but this is old school but very very well made and is not showing any decline

Popped, poured, consumed over two hours. Pushing the limits on tart, fresh, mouthwatering acidity, loaded with seamlessly complex tertiary goodness along with a haunting succulent finish. A beauty. 94+

Terribly young and tight. Dark in color, high in acid, this clearly needs more time or if you plan to open one, decant it for a little while. Tasted promising though in a somewhat austere and classic way. It was my 1st 1989 Burg so I can not really link any previous experience to this bottle.

A Grand Evening...with Grands-Echezeaux (Kevin Restaurant, Chicago IL): Spice-driven aromas with tight fruit. Alas we didn't give much decanter time. Red and black cherry came across as stern and slightly backward, making this tough to assess behind assertive tannins. The rare 1989 that demands still more time in cellar, this should be much better in another 5+ years

This was the surprise of the evening for me as I had little expectation. Full red color. Big red fruit and licorice aroma with nice spicy notes. Lovely delicate red fruit with silky acidic finish. Very nice and focused, will definitely improve with time. 93+ pts. 4/06

pretty old burgundy that was just ready to go. I would have liked to see more structure but that is a quibble and it's to be expected with an 89.
