It is remarkable that an 11+ year-old wine at this price point it still drinking this decently, even though there's not much to get excited about. The color is a medium (+) tawny-brown. It appears to be unfiltered. The nose is medium (+) in intensity, and tertiary, with aromas of compost, cured meat, tar, balsamic, medicinal herbs. The palate is dry, with medium acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol (14.1%). The palate is a little less developed than the nose, with red and black fruit, tea, tobacco and cedar. This actually drank much better a full week after being opened and vacuum-vined. Pretty interesting for a wine at this price point.

Couleur opaque d'un vin encore jeune. Gras avec un nez exubérant la prune et les fruits noirs. La bouche est fidèle au nez. La matiere tannique est fondue. Peut certainement attendre encore quelques (1-2) années.

Dense, dark, rich colour with a touch of browning on the edges. Lots of dark cherry with the usual characteristics of cabernet. Happy I have stored this as long as I have. Could be stored even longer, say, a year, but ready now. I give it 86.

Yet another bottle that does not disapoint. Same dark fruit with hints of muted earth. More noticeable than the earth this time were the vegetal notes. Great QPR at $9-12.

Crystal sales tasting. Purple with a blueish rim. Lots of wood on the nose, with simple blackberry flavours lurking behind and powdery tannins on the toungue. It would have been a decent quaffing wine, but I found it to have a rather sickly, vegetal streak running throughout that threw me off kilter.

Decanted for 1 hour. Initial strong smell and taste of tobacco, but it blew off after 20 minutes or so. Followed by wonderful and complex flavors of cinnamon, blackberries, and coffee. The tannins bite a little at the mid-palate to keep everything focused. And the amazing thing is that this wine is drinkable now! Awesome QPR, highly recommended.

Excellent wine. Been over a week since I had it and wrote down no notes but was pleasently surprised with this wine. Decanted for 90 minutes. Great earthy tones that you get from chilean wines.

Aromas - Lots of earthy/loamy aromas. Almost smells like dry leaves. Cedar box with some black pepper. Even a little poppy seed.
Palate - black cherries and purple fruit. Tobacco for DAYS! Very smooth. Silky soft tannins. A modest finish. A little disjointed on the finish.
Overall - just a tiny bit too much tobacco and earth for me. I could have used just a tiny bit more of the fruit. But overall, the scores in the 87-88 range don't seem unreasonable.

This wine had a lot of hype going into it. It received an 88 from Tanzer, lots of mid to high 80's from other CT users, and talk of lots of flavors and tastes. To me this wine is very Chilean, it is very buggy if you will, it does not deliver on fruit, it is incredibly dry, although it is balanced and it just may not be my cup of tea. I want to say, it did go well with a NY Strip rare as hell, but does not stand up on its own as an intriguing and sophisticated bottle of wine. Try it and see for your self of course, but I will not buy this again.

What a unique wine, at first I was not sure if I liked it but after a few minutes it really grew on me. It was very cigar like and peppery but it really worked well.

Tobacco. Like sucking on a ripe, flavorful cigar. Leather is also there and some good overall complexity in the nose and flavors. A nice bottle for $7.99 from TJs. You can't go very wrong with a lot of these Chileans.

I have to say I didn't have high expectations for this wine. Upon first sip noticed a considerable green streak. Over the course of the next 2 hours this wine really opened up and was quite pleasurable. Nice core of dark red rasberry fruit, and with other posters that it had nice richness to it. More substantial than I had anticipated. Great value. would consider purchasing again.
