Wow - I really enjoyed this. I pulled the cork around five hours before serving which helped - no formal notes but ample fruit and plenty of acidity to balance - getting earthy/mushroom type notes - but really enjoyable and in a good place with a decent decant. One of the best 2005s I’ve had in a while - impressive!

Still young. Fresh raspberry and strawberry on the nose...needs quite a bit of coaxing at this stage. Nice acidity and fine tannins. Hold for a few more years - will likely improve with more time in the bottle.

Medium body, garnet color, tannins almost completely integrated. Nose dried fruit, sweet liquor. Mouth very soft, mature sweetness balanced with acidity, some earthy notes, warm holiday spices. Seems to have reached its peak and perhaps coming to the end of it. Planning on drinking within the next year.

Far and away the best showing I've experienced for this wine, and it's clear that it is just approaching peak - plenty of time left here. The fruit is pretty, a mix of red and black, and it's very much permeated with complex gamy and leafy tones. There is good density an impact on the palate, which is well balanced and pungent with fruit and mineral on the finish. Really lovely wine, and hard to beat in Burgundy at this price.

Took a bit of coaxing but after a few hours the nose is opening - very pure, mineral, fresh berry on the nose - packs an acidic punch - great food wine but fruit seems just a tad muted. Either needs a bit more time to open or a few more years in the cellar - very enjoyable though.

Popped and poured; three of us spent ninety minutes with it over a meal. Good translucent red color, medium to light body Mature, very nice, soft, slightly sweet red fruit, somewhat subdued palate. A feminine and lovely Burgundy. Share it with women. Drink soon.

Showing beautifully. Lots of cranberries, wet earth, leafy notes, & violets. Palate was a nice combination of airiness and concentration of florals and fruit. Yum city.

A beautiful showing. No danger of decline, but I have a hard time seeing this get better. The aromatics were all one could ask for. The palate was open.

Brought to a relative's house and drank out of really bad stemware that had been washed with what, based on the smell of the residue, must have been dirty cat litter. And yet none of this was enough to mute the loveliness of this wine. Seems like it's in a great place and I cannot wait to try one in the comfort of my own home.

Saturday Afternoon at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage - Chicago, IL): I liked this a lot. Decanted for about 2 hours, the air helped open this up a bit. Beautiful rose and cherry tones on the palate with soft, earthy notes throughout. Impressive structure that points to a nice life ahead of it.

Dinner at Sun Wah (Sun Wah BBQ - Chicago, IL): Exactly what I'm looking for from a wine from Beaune. Flavors were bright, spicy, and accessible. The palate was juicy with great red fruit, light florals and nice grip. And the finish was structured and tense. Should have a good future ahead of it...but it's quite nice to drink today, too!

Dinner at Sun Wah (Chicago, IL): Classic Cote-de-Beaune, classic rustic style of red Burgundy. There's a good amount of dustiness on the nose, followed by a very nice bouquet of red currants and raspberries. The palate is very light, but there's enough red fruit to hold your interest. There is, however, despite this fruity charm, quite a bit of rusticity to the wine, mostly in the form of coarser tannins. Very nice now, and I've no doubt that well-kept bottles have a few more years ahead of them.

This needed a lot of time to open up, and even after 3-4 hours of air, it was still pretty tight. What it did show was some really pretty berries and a nice dose of acid on the finish. Hard to get a read on this tonight since it was so one note. Luckily, the berry fruit was really pretty. Fingers crossed that time will coax this one from its slumber.

In a really great place right now. Such a nice balance of primary 05 fruit and secondary flavors - it's almost 50/50. Combine this with a silky smooth body, and it's a winner.
$25 on winebid. Was 95% sure this one would crap the bed (winebid + burgundy + few years of age). Nice to be pleasantly surprised!

Beautiful balance of herbs and earth notes with dark fruit. Acidity just right. Medium body and moderate to long finish. This wine has evolved consistently and in the right direction over the past few years. Ready and have to believe years ahead for my remaining 5 bottles.

Deep cherry red. An almost imperceptible barnyard waft, noticeably fading to none, leaving a light note of cloves and freshly crushed ripe red raspberries. Outstanding value burgundy, medium-light bodied, elegant, understated.

Oui, trois fois oui !

Violet, vanilla, and light cream nose. Elegant cherry and spice on the palate. Drinking beautifully now. Simply not complex or thought provoking enough to warrant a higher score but nonetheless this is awesome burg for 25$. Distinctive, light, attractive, elegant.
Mineral driven and red fruit. Nice acidity here. Raspberry, cranberry and cherries. Nice bright red fruits, but not a lot of mid-palate development or concentration. Clipped finish.

Burgundy Tasting (Philadelphia): nose showed fairly simple cherry and a bubble gum note that distracted from the fruit. palate was quite pleasant, but somewhat simple, with black cherry and black pepper notes. medium(-) finish.

A Sampling Of Burgundy: Bright red and fruity. Touch of oak and raspberry. Palate of minerals combined with minerals and earth. This could use some more time to develop but I doubt it will ever hit 90. Probably an 89 at best. Very nice Auxey-Duresses.

Frogman's observations from over a year ago still seem to hold true. Initially, light and fresh red fruit on the nose. Very floral (rose petals?). Palate with the bright fruit and some minerality. As this sits in the glass, it develops complexity, with layered fruit and a touch of oak. Some back end acidity. Enough tannins for this to hold up for several years. Very nice finish.

This is showing a bit more structure than the last time I tried it, so I'd check in soon or let them sleep. On opening it was all fruit -- my first thought was Beaujolais when I stuck my nose in the glass -- but that quickly gave way to a more typical, denser fruit profile with layers of spice and some earth peeking out. This was all I had on-hand to go with some medium-spicy Thai take-out; to my surprise, it worked quite well.
