Dark berries, plum, forest floor, tobacco, it’s becoming nutty with its age, but is lacking no purity of fruit. Held up nicely on the second day, too, so no rush to open it.

Coffee and chicory are really dominant, some greenness and bell pepper (underripe?) coming through. Really basic. Revolting qpr. I will leave overpriced bordeaux wines for the filthy rich Chinese buyers and focus on getting myself bottles that are actually tasty and delicious to drink
An unbalanced wine showing already a lot of evolution with coffee being the dominant flavor. Besides the fruit also showing paprika and oak that is not completely integrated. A problem for many Bordeaux in the 2006 vintage. Extreme poor QPR.

A classic telltale st.emilion nose of opulent and savory nature: milk chocolate, black cherries, dried figs, loamy earth and flowers. A great structure and refinement on the palate - lively acidity, sweet and polished tannins. If I have to be utterly picky I would say the finish is a bit drying and the tannins feel a bit rustic on the backend.

Last tasted four years ago, when I found it it tough and gawky. Its character is still the same, even after three hours in the decanter. Tannic and tough, with drying tannins, intense chalky minerality, not really lacking in fruit or intensity but just so austere, firm and structured, with notes of fresh paprika and a hint of gulash, good length. Ungainly. Only the very brave will put some bottles away to await future developments - I have none left.

Amazing nose of coffee bean, plums, black raspberries, spices, florals, similar profile on the attach but there's a mighty grip on the mid palate that kills any flavour, this should soften and integrate nicely would love to revisit in a decade or so
A bit too over the top at the moment: very ripe (almost jammy) black fruits aromas, with coffee, toast and chocolate hints. Quite pronounced acidity, with rather high tannins and full body. I felt it very hot in the back of the mouth, so I checked the alcohol level: 14%. Wow.
Even if already 9 years of age I really think that this one should be cellared longer.
expressive and some smoke, but for me an atypical showing for a claret, a lot of tannin left of course, but already accessible, but this is not my preferred style in Bordeaux

Dark garnet color turning crimson at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose is effervescent with hints of eucalyptus, menthol, dark berries, Saint Emilion earth and dried herbs. The palate is delicious and full-bodied with a velvety texture. Flavors of dark cherry, black currant, espresso, dark chocolate, licorice, and spice form the core. Elegantly-balanced, fleshy, and robust. Finishes long and spicy with hints of earth, cloves and thyme. Great stuff! Drink now until 2026. 93+

From an assemblage of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, this deep colored St. Emilion offers an enticing nose of fennel, stone, espresso, black plums, flowers and spice. With round textures and a good depth of flavor, this vintage of Beau-Sejour Becot is developing better than expected. Give it another 5 more years of bottle age, to allow it to add more complexity and softer textures.

Tried at Glengarrys Bordeaux tasting. $164 (NZ$). Beautiful nose of chocolate, toffee(?). Big, chewy palate and tannins. Would need a lot of cellar time – 10 years+. A real mouth plucker. This is marvelous! This is beautiful! This is elegant! This is shining at the moment!
It's been a year I didn't touch this bottle! I'm glad I try one at this stage, although a little bit tight at the beginning, but after 15 minutes sitting in the glass, it is absolutely shining! Very deep nose of stewed red fruits, cherries, very sweet and little bit of smoky alluring French oak, this is indeed what I'm dreaming of! It is absolutely delicious! Very dark very deep red in color, almost purple! Very fresh! Nearly full bodied, mouthful of rich red fruits, sensational! The bottle state this is a 14% alcohol drink, but I never spot it and I don't detect any greenness like others did! To be honest, this is a little reminder of tasting a young, energetic, fragrant elegant vintage 2000 right bank Bordeaux, it is nearly that good and attractive! And there is at least a good 10 years to go in my opinion! But if you have a case or few bottles, you should really consider to give it a go, I think you will not regret it and this is my case!
The wine making team of the Chateau did a superb job! Spot on! Bravo! Looking forward to try this again!

Quite opaque. Purple and young looking. As others have said, very closed down nose. Very dark fruits, sun dried concentration, dried herbs, slight espresso finish. This may be the particular bottle, but the wine tastes seriously faulted; too much brett and possibly even ethyl acetate (very mild vinegar smell/flavor). Probably one to steer clear of, especially considering quality to price ratio.

Sweeter fruits showing on the nose than either the 08 or 07; pleasing in a round, modern-ish style (not offensively so). Doesn't have much staying power for the finish, but a decent wine. A little disappointing compared to the nose. Lighter in feel than the 07 and 08, with a lighter style but sweeter fruit to provide pleasure.

Very dark. Hardly opening nose, medium sweet, a bit jammy with some cassis. Med.+ body, silky, jammy, balanced rather by noticeable spice and slightly refreshing tannins, plums and pepper. The aftertaste reminds most of dark chocolate with chilli and cherry.

Bright ruby to crimson. Dark plummy fruit nose with perfume character, red liquorice, herbs and chocolaty mocha oak. Medium to fullbodied refreshing palate with dusty drying tannins, good fruit, bitter character, salt liquorice and mocha oak. Lengthy. Rather nice stuff though obviously young.

What's behind the Gin-Mask? Drink it over the course of 5 days, around 150ml per day, all I can report you is this bottle is way way too young to judge, very sophiscated, not a big wine but very tannic, however, the tannins is very silky very smooth, the nose is quite closed during the first 2 days, beginning to show some very decent dark fruits in the nose, the palate is of course very strong. Well, this is my initial impression, better leave it for at least 5 years I guess!

Beautiful and elegant. Juicy mainly dark forest fruits. Youthful tannin which is a little bit green. Give it another 5+ years to see what happens.

Bright ruby-red. Hardly opening nose, tightly wound, Firmly structured wine, finishing with a serious tannic spine and medium+ length.

Very dark. Hardly opening nose, medium sweet, a bit jammy with some cassis. Med.+ body, silky, jammy, balanced rather by noticeable spice and slightly refreshing tannins, plums and pepper. The aftertaste reminds most of dark chocolate with chilli and cherry.

Sweet and attractive nose! Fruits just amazing! Lacking complexity! That's why I'm not scoring it 95! But very good indeed!

Sampled at the UGC event in Chicago. One of my favorites at the tasting. Beautiful and elegant, and should drink well without extended aging. The rep compared this vintage to 2001 and 2004 and called it "classical".

Union des Grand Cru Tasting (Lighthouse (Pier 61, Chelsea Piers)): At UGC Grand Tasting in New York. Met expectations. I did not love the 06 -- it was good, but after the 05, was a slight disappointment. Fruity nose with a palate of darker fruit and short finish.
