Dinner at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons with family and friends for son's 30th. Limited notes. A couple of bottles for the dessert courses. Not a touch on my recently noted 1990 but still excellent. Honey, apricots, jungle fruit and desert spices. Not at all heavy with decent acidity for balance (and cutting across richer puds!). Fully ready, but being Chenin should make 20yrs from vintage without any problem.

Not the best Huet 1ere Trie that I have had but a very good and solid wine. Fruit a bit grilled both in the nose and mouth, but a very balanced profile with an excellent acidity. Will keep my other bottle for no less than 5 years.

Nose with dried yellow fruit, discrete honey notes, spice, and some smoke. The palate is sweet with dried yellow fruit, honey (heather honey), noticeable spice notes, and good acidity. 90 p Residual sweetness 65 g/l.

Not quite up to the expectations I usually have for a Huet 1er trie, but this is still very good. Ripe Chenin fruit with some botrytised apricot, honeyed and spicy accents, lovely purity and textural finesse and impressive length. Very nice, though not showing the level of complexity and depth these wines usually have.

WineFanatic Loire Offline (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – light lemon in colour, clear. Notes of orange peel, spice and papaya. Viscous mouth feel but with all the acid still has a level of freshness to it. Very good.

Tasting with Noel Pinguet at Domaine Huet (Vouvray, France): The only wine Noel bottled from Clos du Bourg in 2006 and in very small quantities. An example of the selection Noel referred to. Light yellow in color, this wine already has a very honied character and a tremendous depth of fruit. 50+13+13+8.5+8.5=93

Smoky, mineral, melon nose with cheese rind accents. Not super profound for a 1er trie. 91-92.

Tasting at Domaine Huet and Domaine du Clos Naudin; 6/24/2014-6/26/2014 (Vouvray): This had been decanted for several hours but still seemed rather closed. Good weight and elegant wine though. 91+?

Light yellow. Tons going on in the nose. apricot, honey, flowers and pine. Really nice sweetness but very balanced finish. Very good.

Visit to Domaine Huet: A nose of reluctant promises.
Fruity with good balance but somehow lacking excitement.
