The nose is developed and complex but I was expecting more subtlety on the palate, especially from Oregon. Too big and too much heat for me. Almost 15% and you feel it.

Dark crimson with slight bricking around the edges. Very Vosne like on the nose showing violets, sandalwood, cinnamon, dark red berries and forest floor. A perfectly balanced and silky palate shows sweet & sour dark red berries, medium acidity, lots of inner mouth perfume and a long wood/baking spice tinged finish. This has aged very well indeed.

Shared by a friend; super ripe red fruits, leaning towards cherry and raspberry coulis or jam; there is a hint of baking spice and earth, and a slightly dried lilac note. Shows the warmth of the vintage in the ripeness of the fruit, but the palate remains balanced and delicious with a long fruit filled finish. Probably about at peak right now.

Has not lost color and no apparent browning. Swirl away in a burgundy glass - perhaps strawberry on the nose. Spicy, complex fruit, balance by acid, polluted by bitter green stem, tannic leaf, which I dislike in many Beaux Freres pre 2007. That said, this may shed some tannin with sufficient fruit to come more appealing. I dislike stemmy leaf overtones more than most tasters.

Had with Thanksgiving dinner. Last bottle, popped and poured. Similar notes as last year, but could have used a couple hour decant. Initially a bit hard on the edges, but blossomed into a very nice wine (great with turkey etc.). Although I surmised differently last year, it may not have yet reached it's peak.

Delicious. Deep cherry and strawberry candy on the nose with a subtle touch of earth. Rich, complex flavors of strawberry with some baking spices (like strawberry pie). Medium-weight, but viscous for a BF. Some tasters have noted that this is a bit more Californian in style than most vintages, and I agree. The only thing holding this back is a bit of hot alcohol that comes and goes in the profile, especially as it rested in the glass. Otherwise, it lingers on the finish in an inviting, complex way. An exciting, beautiful wine with at least a few more years in it.

Exceptional wine. Nice nose, balanced punch, and a long, smooth finish. I agree with other 90+ tasting notes below regarding unique aspect of this pinot, as I found it one of the most interesting wines I have ever had the pleasure to be surprised by. Had with two types of salami and brie cheese, and everyone at the table was amazed at the enjoyability factor that this wine offered.

New Years Even 2015 (Kevin and Vicki's): Drank a glass over about 1.5 hours. This was an interesting wine, it was bigger like a Sonoma coast pinot, but had distinct Oregon character as well. Dark red fruits, almost brooding, with evil briarly earth. I felt this was quite nice, although it started to get alcoholic after about an hour in glass.

New Years Eve Celebration (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Dark red color. Decanted for 1 hours, drank 1 glass over 2 hours. Sour cherry nose, sous bois, earthy. The palate is medium bodied, darker red fruits, cherry, tart cherry, red currant, tangy, dusty, spice, sous bois, briary, long. Still showing well, not sure that I hold long though, couple years. What an interesting and exciting wine. Very good if you can appreciate it as its own style. Finessed Burgundy it is not, but excellent wine none the less. I gave it more than an hour of air and was rewarded for it. Brambly garrigue, red meat, strawberries and hint of coffee on the nose. Wild, juicy palette with a little spritz and substantial body. The texture was clean and balanced, yet rather full in the end. Long finish that highlights raspberry and white chocolate. Excedingly fun blend of Willamette influence and a CA style. 8-19-9-8

Drank semiblind. I knew this was a 2006 Pinot Noir. At first it reminded me of a really robust open Burg, north of Les St Georges, south of Fixin. It had savory spice, molasses or dark cherry, depending on the size of the glass. A large goldfish bowl type glass gave it molasses or sorghum, a tighter tulip glass pushed it toward dark cherry with some leather. I liked the tulip profile better than the fish bowl's. It had more charm and delineation. Either way, it was open and expressive, and more balanced in the tulip; a little fat in the fish bowl. The tannins must have been there, I tasted them, I felt them, when visiting the vineyard, and purchasing this bottle.
terrific bottle, lots of secondary aromatics, and depending on glass size, tertiary components as well. (and a hint of cherry wood smoke).
You could drink this now, or wait. I purchased at the source, and stored at 55-58ºF since release. This one likely was healthier, and more intact than a bottle sourced via auction or otherwise.
tasted: domaine michel gros. vosne romanée clos des réas. 2005. the same week, and saw some similarity. The Vosne will improve with time, or use with beef, butter, and all things great about French food. see review if interested. I just opened the bottle Clos es Réas as I type this note, and it's getting a cork for another day.

Hmmm. Didn't take my own advise to wait on these. The last two bottles over this past year have been messy. I hope it isn;t the warm vintage falling apart. The 98's did a little bit of the same thing and are drinking beautifully now. Hope these come back too.

I like this but it as with many 2006 wines it is more like a California pinot than Oregon pinot. The dark cherry fruit is the major player in this wine with accompanying spice notes.

PNP. cork perfect. color bricking edges and garnet body. seemed a little prickly (others have suggested spritzy) so passed thru vinturi. this showed balance between secondary and primary flavors, but most importantly had good balance between fuit and structure. slippery on the palate, and med length finish. touch of alcohol peeking out at times.i am thinking that if I had more would not wait much longer.

Dark red color. PNP with aeration from bottle, drank 2+ glasses over 3hrs. Love the nose here, deeply earthy with both damp and dry characteristics, briary, dark red fruits of black cherry and red currants, spicy, fresh. The nose is like sticking your face into a thicket and inhaling. The palate is layered and deep with dry forest floor, black cherry, red currant, a hint of cranberry, tart, mushroom, spicy finish. Tannins are nice and fairly integrated.

This is certainly a ripe style (and year) of pinot noir. It's very good in it's style but it is not my favorite style of pinot noir. To me the QPR is not worth it as I can get this same experience for less $$$. - Nose of ripe fruit, red & dark cherries, a little spice - On the palate ripe red & black cherry flavors dominate with a blue fruit note present. It's almost a bit sweet (wonder what the residual sugar is). Very light note of spice (wood cask spice?). The attack and mid-palate is strong and it makes the finish seem subdued comparatively. The tannins are smooth and resolved.

Typical Pinot nose though understated. Nutty notes from beginning to end which was unexpected. More structure than most Pinots. Modest acidity and some unexpected tannins on the finish.

Second bottle of this in a year and I think they are in a little bit of a weird place. Messy and overblown on day 1but still drinkable. Settled down and good on day 2. The BF Willamette was better. Hopefully they will integrate and calm down. Wait a couple of years before opening another.

This wine was disappointing. I believe it is beginning to stretch it's prime drinking window. The alcohol is more noticeable than ever and it has taken on a slightly prune like overtone. Glad I don't have anymore - but sorry I picked it for Thanksgiving. Maybe we'll do better for Christmas!

Night one. Just opened an hour ago. On the nose, cannot distinguish from an 06 Chambolle Musigny. Same combo of dried fruit and earth, and on the nose, decent finish, somewhat dry, no hint of high alcohol despite high indicate on the label. Lets see what happens as the night unfolds. I do like the wine. Maybe because I'm a burg person.
Night two. in frig corked all night. Today, same nose, which I love, but fruit has blossomed and come to the forefront. Same acidity, no noticeable alcohol, but the fruit has come to life. Still bright primary fruits, not subdued black fruits. None will be left after tonight, but wonder what night 3 would bring.

Maybe in an awkward place. These are big and good but prior bottles have been better. As with all BFs open them up well in advance of serving to allow time for the significant spritz to blow off. If you p&p these babies you won't be happy! Even on day 2 the half bottle left is spritzy.

Opened and decanted for 1 hour before consumption. Much more earth than I would have expected from this producer and vintage but was very nice and paired great with a roasted chicken. Darker fruits than the typical Oregon pinot profile. Good balance all the way through. Drink or hold.

Light ruby reddish color with a hint of orange and reddish pink to the rim. On the nose there were floral notes, mushroom, briary-red fruit with earthy notes. The taste were cherry, strawberry, white pepper with other subtle herbs. There was nice acidity with soft tannin, light body, and a short to medium finish.

This beautiful pinot starts with notes of clove and asian spices on the nose with underlying earthy notes. Strawberry and cherry notes linger beneath. The first taste gives sweet fruit with great underlying acidity and polished tannins. Everything is in very nice balance. The nose continued to evolve in the glass for a half hour with the earthy notes fading a bit and the fruit becoming more evident. The finish lingers for 45 seconds. This is a great pinot.

Greatly improved since I last tried this wine; it clearly just needed time to settle in after bottling. At this point in its life, color is a pale black cherry. Nose is dominated by griotte cherry aromas, with melted tar and spice and perhaps a whiff of VA. The wine itself is very much in a griotte-cherry juice or perhaps cranberry juice flavor range, sweet up front (cherry pastille) but then with a briary, tart finish that I rather like. Seems as if it could continue to age and improve for a while. Back in 2008 I noted that it was a poor QPR and on this, I agree with myself: that back-palate aggressiveness (I called it "coarse" back them) has me wondering if the wine will come around before it starts to slip.

Drinking so well so young (for a BF). As usual it evolved nicely over time. More layered than any other 06 Oregon PN I've had, but definitely has that big concentrated red fruit, cherry, cassis, raspberry, that many wines of this vintage have. Great pinot! Was the best of the bunch of pinots that included an '08 Sea Smoke Ten, '08 Rhys Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard, '06 Beaux Freres Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge Vineyard and '06 Craggy Range Pinot Noir Te Muna Road Vineyard. The 2 '08's were clearly to young. The Beaux Freres was wonderful. On the nose notes of spicy earth, tree bark and fresh bing cherry. In the mouth, silky smooth. Awesome mouthfeel! This wine hit on all facets. The color on this wine was amazing, in the sense that it was the lightest colored pinot of the group. This wine has not hit its peak yet and still displays some well integrated tannin. First Beaux Freres and I'm a big fan.

This bottle was the last of my vintage of this wine. It had red berries that are wild in nature and some brambly notes. It started off a bit hot and tight and took awhile to calm down. This is fabulous if you like laid back, subtle, savory pinot with a mid-level fruit profile. What I view as classic Oregon pinot, nothing like some of the candy cane versions that overwhelm with fruit/sugar and have no structure or sophistication.

Complex aroma and flavor of red berry, cherry, sweet spices, and earth. Mouthfeel is liquid velvet with a little well balanced heat from the relatively high alcohol content, which also leaves the impression of sweetness on the finish. Very enjoyable.

Terroir-istes International - USA-Oregon-Willamette Pinot Noir (Rodwell House): A light- ruby to orange rim. The nose shows some evolution with barnyard pong and scorched earth but there are elements of wild strawberry, mineral, oak spices, and pepper underneath that interest. The entry is crispy, going towards grippy, sinewy tannins with riper fruits emerging of red cherry and strawberry., A slightly short finish there is a slightly bitter element that detracts yet overall the wine is pretty smart!

I had this at the winery...I was there for a quick tour with Mike and Kurt. It is a huge deep monster both in structure and the glass. I think this was the youngest Beaux Freres I have ever had exposure to. A deep violet rim with a dark core in the glass. Scents of earth, granite, and dark fruits slowly emerged from the glass. In the mouth it was very full bodied and almost too powerful for me at this point. Mike did a very good job with this for such a warm year. Yet there was a slight hint of alcohol that crept in at the tail end of the finish. I tend to prefer my Beaux Freres bottles with 10+ years age on them...so I will have to be patient with this one.

- Nose of ripe fruit, red & dark cherries, a little spice
- On the palate ripe red & black cherry flavors dominate with a blue fruit note present. It's almost a bit sweet (wonder what the residual sugar is). Very light note of spice (wood cask spice?). The attack and mid-palate is strong and it makes the finish seem subdued comparatively. The tannins are smooth and resolved.

The entry is crispy, going towards grippy, sinewy tannins with riper fruits emerging of red cherry and strawberry.,
A slightly short finish there is a slightly bitter element that detracts yet overall the wine is pretty smart!
