Fully saturated cork so kudos to my Durand! Fabulous nose which only a fully mature left bank Bordeaux can deliver. Damp earth, pipe tobacco, leather, truffle and some Ceylon tea and cedar. Tertiary red and dark fruit on the palate with fully resolved tannins and a medium, cedary finish. While a bottle drunk a few years back showed better this was still a very enjoyable encounter. I suggest to drink any bottles you may have now to capture the best of this wine as it is on its descent.

very impressed by this "humble" 5th growth. fruit still very alive. tannins present, but almost fully resolved, some cassis and blackcurrant. a definite over performer

Sunken in cork but obviously still sealing well as this was a beautiful showing. A translucent garnet but without any browning, fresh with perfectly integrated acidity, forest floor, some dark fruit, tobacco. With more air this becomes more astringent, or it could have been also some of the sediment in the bottom of the glass contributing to the sensation. Anyway great showing on Pnp and better than a recent 89 I had.

Probably at the peak of its life. Perfectly mature Bdx. From the best terroir in Bdx? Off course not, but it illustrates that Cantemerle can mature very well in great vintages. That magnum effect has undoubtedly played a role in this.

I got a little concerned when I cut the capsule and saw the cork was very moldy. I cleaned it up, got the cork out, and decanted for a bit. Very acidic and some off organics on opening. Put back in the bottle for two hours.
By dinner, the acidity had pulled back and the initial nose blew off. What was left was a wonderfully aged claret. Mostly secondary and tertiary aromas, cedar, tobacco, pencil shavings, leather, and herbs. Tannins fully resolved, almost sweet, long memorable finish.
Wonderful pairing with sous vide lamb shoulder and salsa verde. Really enjoyable and worth the wait.

Deeply colored still with no obvious age; classic nose of cigar box, mature fruit, tobacco and cedar closet. Rich mature and silky palate. Nice lingering finish. Classic

The bottle was in good condition, level BN (base of neck) with no mould on cork. The color was dark crimson. Full body wine with elegant subtle acids and tannins. The nose and taste was complex with ceder wood, lilies, black currant, raisins, yellow apples, fermented pears and warm banana pie.

The aromatics of this wine were quite heavy and strong. The musk on this wine was earthy, gamey, savory, and a touch funky. The palate is so 82 with its density and velvet touch. It started out earthy and fleshed out and showed hints of dark fruit with air. This was my kind of wine. Very enjoyable.

Just terrific, not a lightweight at all, held its own against the 86 Medocs and the 89 Cantemerle. Fully mature, round and generous with a classic claret profile. A bargain still at auction.

Really captures the ripe, lush quality of the 82 vintage, with masses of concentrated velvety black fruit that have picked up classsic mature accents of smoky cigar and gravel. A lovely mature claret.

Cantemerle & Lagune Vertical; 6/28/2014-6/30/2014 (Dale's): Distinctive nose of wintergreen, lovely style, light yet intense. Very nice, hanging in there with minty fruit and a great plush/smooth finish. Nearly as good as the 82 Lagune tonight, good showing.

Cantemerle/La Lagune vertical (Dobbs Ferry): There's a high toned quality to the aromatics here with a pine needle/resin-like note among the savoury fruit, earth and cedary elements. It certainly stands out from the other Cantemerles so far, but not in a bad way. This doesn't have the power I'd expect from an '82, it's leaner but well balanced with the fruit very fresh and lively, and a polished texture.

Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs: Gerry's wine. Very good. NO FUNK(or Horses--), that overwhelms 82 Latour. My last 82's were Mouton, and Latour. I bought 10 cs of 82's as futures, based on the infant Wine Advocates advocacy. I put them in storage for 10 years, the Mouton in a damp Manhattan warehouse recommended by Morrell, the others were held by Zachy's. I started drinking the St emillon's first, Palmer, and then moved on. I loved the 82's at 10 to 12 years of age. When it came to celebrate the Millenium, I opened my next to last bottle of Latour on New Years eve at Petrossian then at Bal Harbour Shoppes. We couldn't get past the funk, that night, or the next. I then went to Hollywood Food&Wine vertical tasting. The funk wasn't MY BOTTLE, IT WAS THE WINE! I sold my last bottle through Vinfolio, for $1,200. I stopped buying Bordeaux futures after 2000. I just can't accept buying wine to lay down for 10 years, and then roll the dice. It used to be that the off unheralded vintages of Bordeaux were accessible early, and enjoyable to drink.

Magnum. Very light and mature looking. Nose is beautiful. Perfect mature Bordeaux. On the palate, however, I thought it was too thin and watery. Several other people loved it though. Not my style. It was better 5 years ago.
