Very interesting wine. Dark ruby/purple in colour, with a nice nose full of rich deep black fruits, tobacco and a hint of green (though this disappeared with time). Lots of tobacco and red and mainly earthy black fruits again on the medium-full bodied palate, with a nice amount of ripe tannins and a hint of smoke and oak too. Great texture to this wine, with a nice glycerin note and long finish. Not too complex right now, but it's well balanced, tasty, concentrated and powerful, and will improve with time I think (no rush to drink this at all). No green flavours on the palate with this bottle. At the sale price I paid, I wish I had more (A-)!

A modern nose revealing green pepper, dark fruits, pepper as well as some toasted oak which lead way to a full bodied oak centric palate with black cherry and pepper flavors.

Still shows quite stemmy and green. Fruit is fading slightly and the green notes (which i often enjoy) are too pronounced. This seems to be falling apart.

This was a good bit better showing than previous times with this wine. Upon opening and decanting, it was quite aromatically expressive, and continued to be so over a couple hours. At the hour point it had rounded out a good bit. Showing some signs of development, with hints of tobacco and forest floor together with dark fruits. tannin and wood pleasantly integrated. after a couple hours in a decanter, the tannin did start to come to the fore.

Enjoyed the bottle while shoving unlimited meat down at Fogo de Chao. Recommendation of Som and was not disappointed. Nice color and nose of dark fruit with some hints of rust (autobody), and earthiness. Palate was more fruity than expected, but the acidity and minerality kept the balance. Very nice and was a substantial bargain on the wine list and a pleasant change from the typical red wines offered.

full bodied, dark fruits and green bell pepper on the nose, the green is less dominant on the full midpalate, very smooth lingering finish with sufficieint tannin and cut.

Upon opening this had a very strong, unpleasant bouquet of petrol, vegetative notes, and tobacco. It took a couple of hours in the decanter to blow off and once it did it was pretty decent. Dry, dark fruits with a slight bell pepper/vegetative note. It almost reminded me of a cab franc or bordeaux blend. Ann didn't like this at all until the funk blew off and even then she wasn't thrilled with it.

Fabulous, one of the best Carmenere's out of Chile right now - Black, full bodied with a nose of plum, blueberry, cedar, spice and vanilla, very complex, balanced, well structured, silky smooth on the palate with an excellent finish, a winner for sure (91 Points).

On pop and pour started off a bit closed on the nose and with a slightly bitter finish. After about 1 hour in the glass, it really came alive. Pretty fruit with a gorgeousl earthy overlay. Reminded me of a N. Rhone for some reason. Dryer than I expected, yet everyone really enjoyed it. This probably has a couple of years left in it to improve and will probably last another 5 after that. What a pleasant surprise! Went great with a rich NY steak.

This has rounded out and softened a bit since the last bottle on release. Perhaps it has developed a bit more bottle bouquet. Served blind, I would have thought it is a new world merlot. It still has enough structure to suggest it will go a bit longer in hopes it develops additional complexity.

This has to be the biggest Carmenere I've ever seen but does it warrant a 93. Not! It's big and bold but very rough around the edges. The fruit is clean and fresh with dark berries but the overshadowing char or roasted cockleshells spell anguish. It's like the wine is mad or something. A sturdy example with promise but not a 93 by any means.

Beautiful dark purple with nose of spice and black currants. The tannins make it lless palatable without food, but, with a veal chop with creamy redwine sauce, it shone much better. It certainly needs some age to smooth out, but has a nice potential.

A beautiful dark color, this is firm and rigid at first, but softens with air to reveal blackcurrant, briar and black pepper notes. Soft on the palate, this is alcoholic but delicious with juicy berry fruit flavors and not much tannin.

I drank this with a roasted leg of lamb dinner on 8/31/08. It was a deep, opaque purple color. It decanted for 1.5 hours and had aromas of tobacco, soy sauce, vanilla, black berry, black currant, chocolate, bell pepper and pepper. The palate followed with all the above flavors along with some dirt. It wasn’t tannic at all but was very dry with a nice long 60 second finish. This was very enjoyable.

This was very fruit forward in the nose, but tight in the palate. Tannin was very ripe and an all around very well made wine. Others in the party raved about it, I liked it, but was not as excited. Bad palate day?

The nose is a bit light but full of the signature spicy loam, tar smell from Chilean Carmenere. The palate is a bit simple with spiciness up front mixed with hint of berries and tobacco. The finish is good. Overall not a bad wine. Day two it is coming across a bit fake. Elements of cheap cab from napa masked by Carmerere. Down graded. Day three this wine has toned down the fake fruit component from day 2 and now it is letting the Camenrere shine...nice spice and depth possibly this wine would be better with some age on it.....for the price it would be fun to sit on 6 and test over 5 years.....

Wow - what a lush, full wine that lasts minutes after a sip. The color is a brilliant garnet red. There is lots of earth and mineral flavors that balance out the brilliant fruit, leaving a complex wine that stood up great to steak, but drank amazingly well on its own. This is the best wine I have had in a while.

At first, this wine was so oaky as to be bitter. But two hours in the decanter changed it to more of an oak spice. That herbal, earthy, almost green profile so common with carmenere is with this wine. Made in the modern style, it's a very good wine, but I don't see how it reaches the heights other reviewers and the 2004 recieved from WA. Worth the money, though.

Flock - 70s Cal Cab Tasting (My Place): Deep, dark ruby with a rich, decadent nose that has currants, herbs and mint. Palate is ripe and rich with loads of green herbs. This is big and delicious with gritty tannins and bold flavorful fruit. A steal at the price.

Dark purple all the way to the rim. From the nose, one would expect a rush of fruit up front. That is not the case. This wine had a refreshing restrained quality to counterbalance its' intimidating hue and inviting nose. Finishes with a moderately strong element which is best described as dirt.
