Tasted blind. Dark gold, honey and burnt caramel notes, plenty of acidity and medium sweetness, with slightly bitter orange peel. I felt it lacked a bit of freshness and stuffing, but it could be a phase.

Quite deep burnished yellow color. Sweet yet surprisingly cool and fresh nose with aromas of overripe Granny Smith apple, developed creaminess, some caramel tones, a little bit of browned butter, light smoky tones, a hint of steely minerality and a touch of fresh nectarine. The wine is medium-bodied, intense and quite fresh on the palate with complex medium-sweet flavors of steely minerality, some ripe green apples, a little bit of stony minerality, light developed notes of browned bitter and a hint of peanut butter. The overall feel is quite crisp and even somewhat playful, thanks to the bright acidity. The finish is lively, bright and medium-dry with flavors of tangy salinity, some sharp green apple tones, a little bit of steely minerality, light caramel tones, a hint of Russian candy and a sappy touch of herbal spice.
A very fresh, poised and harmonious Chenin Blanc that feels remarkably light, delicate and playful despite its sweetness. One of the key contributors to the balance here is the bright, racy acidity that offsets so much of the sweetness and lends great, electric energy to the mouthfeel. Despite its age of 22 years, the wine is remarkably youthful and alive for its age and based on its rather slow evolution, I can imagine the wine will continue to develop for multiple decades more. Terrific stuff.

Birthday bash tasting (Convivial - Washington, DC): Rich and plush with lots of candied fruits and marmalade, glazed peaches, honey, tropical nectar. But it also has some freshness and those cool, aged Chenin notes of tea, ginger and such.

F..cking damned Huet QA process (if there is any). Next bottle corked!!! That makes about 60% of corked bottles!!! Arrrrggghhhhh. Sorry, but this is so frustrating.

Wild aromatics on Le Mont tonight with dried peach, nectarine, baked apple, dried flowers and, sweet spice. It's zesty on the palate yet soft and enveloping--perfectly balanced--with tart citrus, granny smith apple and inner florals. The finish went on and on with sweet & sour apple, nectarine and raisin on the finish. Wow!

A private tasting (Rotterdam, NL): Tasted blind. Not corked but does not seem quite correct. Developed very quickly in the glass. Is it just over the hill? Not rated.

Vouvray never disappoints me. Whether dry and sweet it always has clean bright fruit and great acidity. Lemon rind and sweet yellow plum sweetness balanced by great acidity. Very enjoyable.

Seattle offline II notes (Tamarind Tree): A beautiful wine. Nice marriage of remaining sweetness and acidity. Age has integrated everything into a complete package. I have yet to have a huet that was bad or drunk at the wrong time.

Black Salt Dinner (Black Salt restaurant - Washington DC): My first impression is upon the color - very dark for a white wine. I am overwhelmed by the taste of apples in this wine - sort of a combination of apple cider and carmelized apple. Lacks some acidity that would contrast the sweetness. A bit plodding and cloying.

2nd bottle from a purchase of three from Vintages Classics collection about 5 or 6 years ago. This is a perfectly good medium sweet wine - but not what the tasting note in the catalgue suggested. I'm guessing that the tasting note the LCBO staffer included was for the '1ère Trie' designation.

(at Petite Louis – Baltimore, from 375 ml) I must admit to being a little disappointed in this. The deep gold color was there. A very nice, raisin and honey nose was there (penetrating in fact). However, on the palate, this wine was a bit flat. Limited intensity and depth. What was there was nice, just not enough of it. (14)

Sweet stuff (@ WB): Dark gold. Fat and elegant at the same time. Some liquorice. Flintstones in the taste. A lot of firm acidity. Refinement as well, but I wonder what the balance between sweetness and acidity will be when this wine gets older.

Really good, but nothing special. Loved it at the price I got it for.

Lightly and pleasantly oxidative like a wine aged under flor, initially disguising the TCA.

Off-dry, seems very evolved already, waxy, no botrytis, elegant and fresh but also drying and with potent bitters. Drying out?
