paired with a tomahawk served slightly chilled. time has tamed this Zin which showed its elegance. Nice nose, with red and dark berries, tertiary nose, quite complex. the palate is elegant and fresh, medium body and long. almost tasted like a cab. very good.

N: Natural oxygenation with berries, poss oranges, rest tough to parse; Intensity lurking?
P: LM body; LOVELY, ALMOST swtish frt *beautifully* offset by an acidity which fairly seamlessly morphs into a LONG, elegantly balanced finish with the tannins basically TOTALLY resolved. WONDERFUL stuff for now & through '21, I'd guess. 13.4% ABV; My EXC/EXC+

N: Slightly closed; RIPE berries with a smoky bacon component? Intensity lurking?
P: LM body; Rndish entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by astringent pucker which slowly evolves into a LONG, balanced finish with a tangy/swtness to the few, firming, dusty tannins. For now & 3 or 4 yrs more (safely)? An absolutely A-W-E-S-O-M-E wine considering lots of it was made @ considerably < $10 sugg retail! :) 13.4% ABV; My EXC, poss EXC/EXC+.

Our neighbors served this bottle at dinner. The bottle was a gift from a friend of theirs. My expectations for a Zin of this age were not high. The cork was dried out and came apart when we worked to open the bottle. I was then shocked with how well this wine was drinking. This turned out to be one of the better Zins I have had.
