Decanted for sediment. Tasted it, had a little funk. Let it air out for about 15, holy smokes. A little fruit came through, cherry, blackberry, tobacco, chocolate, minerals. Beautiful wine.

Very impressive still at this age. Tannins integrated perfectly, almost unnoticeable. Good fruit with some secondary flavors. Still has some time but no reason to wait.

Touch of vanilla on nose, dark fruits, blackberries, earthy, soft tannins, leather, smooth entry and long finish. Except for the mild oak which gave away, it’s like a good pauillac. Very enjoyable. Saved 2 more glasses for tomorrow using coravin.

This bottle was pretty good, but might be a bit past its prime. Nice garnet color with a hint of brick. A nominal amount of sediment in the bottle shoulder. Spice, minerality, graphite and straw on the nose. Plenty of red fruit - strawberry, sour cherry, tart currant - caramelized sugar with somewhat sharp and not too pleasant acidity. Long finish, sweet but also some bitterness.

Dark red, no bricking; nose of cassis, dark chocolate,Bing(dark) cherries; rich cherry/black berry flavor- like cherry bonbon without the sugar; very rich full body on the palate, velvety but has good balance and lively finish, 30 second finish. A Napa cab in the style of Ch Margaux.

Second Judgment of Madrid, Still an Aficionados' Matter (Restaurante Garcia de la Navarra - Madrid): At this point I understood why this bottle was chosen by those french wine eminences forty years ago. Yep, I said this wine because it is very common to confused it with the winery top bottle, Cask 23. Silky texture combined with a powerful yet elegant aroma. Can't ask for more. It is simply, what we have here us nothing but a world class wine, probably in its own style among the great wines of the globe. Logically the winner among the reds.

Opened 4 hours& decanted for 1 hour before drinking consumed over 3 hours. Last glass was the best so should have decanted earlier. Ruby red no sign of age, no bricking, muted nose. Agree with others, velvety smooth, refined & nicely balanced, bramble red & black fruit, light oak. Matched well with sirloin & a long finish. Wish I had left it longer as I think there is more development to come. V good nonetheless

I think someone else mentioned velvet and that's what I thought while drinking this over two days - smooth and dark. A very nice experience, do not believe this will improve much with age so now's the time.
Drank last weekend with grilled T-bone. Slight disapointment. Deep red with a hint of brown. Red berries, noticed the absence of black currant. Quite balanced, but not very multi-dimensional.

Fruit is decent at first but fades quickly. Tannin's are extremely soft for such a young wine of a great vineyard. It might be a bit closed or just on its way out... The wine looks Garnet colored. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Narrow texture. The wine finishes Short.
Wine was drinking great in March 2013. Bold and full bodied, no hint of age at all. Approachable from the onset, it really opened up after about 45 minutes and displayed its complexity. A great wine that seemed to have another 3-5 years of life without falling off, makes me want to hunt more 04 cabs with good pedigree.

YES. Bought in Dubai Duty Free, had not had this wine in a long time. Very deep purple, quite mute on the nose on first pouring. Soft tannins, in the mouth a lot of berry tastes, decent length. Clearly, quit a classy wine but not multi-dimensional at this time. Would say it is still very young. Quite pleasant really.

popped & poured 1 glass. tasted again 24hrs later Dark red; nose of dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, loam; cranberry tart cherry/currant flavors, tightly wound; soft tannins, mild black tea notes on finish; med fast finish. next day wine had opened up considerably- now red raspberry light blueberry flavors, more accessible fruit flavors, no reductive tones; soft black tea tannins;med long finish. Based on the improvement overnight I would expect further development for this wine for a few years

Purchase and consumed at The Barn, Aurora, Ohio. PNP (no offer to decant). Rich nose of dark fruit berries and hints of chocolate. Palate of more dark berries, licorice and smoke. Integrated tannins and very smooth finish. Certainly an excellent wine, but not a super star.

I opened this bottle at 9:30am for a 4pm party and it still needed more time. It was finally showing some blackberry and softer tannins. I came to like this wine but it was a long process. It is obviously a well made wine but it is shy and hard to love at first. The finish was short but growing. The next day it remained as a good potential that never really came out. I would think it was a good effort for a $20 wine, but at $70, Stags Leap should be embarassed. There is a long list of much finer wines at literally half the price.

Bright, balanced, complex and tasty, this was a highly enjoyable wine. Not yet at its peak, the wine isn'y fully open - the fruits have more to give and the tannisn could soften further. Nonetheless, it is enjoyable now. The weight is medium/heavy, color is dark ruby, acidity is med/med-high and the dark frutis, red fruits, cdear, and oak are complex. Drunk 4/3/10, I'm looking forward to consuming my remaining bottels over the next few years.

Perfect ruby color with slight translucense. A lot of freshly cut wood right after pouring. Develops some secondary characteristics that I can't put my finger on along with more fruit but seems a little reticent. Rich fruit, slightly bitter aftertaste. Plush mouthfeel, nice level of acidity balancing things out in the background. Tannins integrated nicely with chewy mouthfeel. Second night: Fruit has really come out in the nose, simple but very rich. Almost Zinfandel-like. Continues to be very plush with a rich savory finish, although still slightly bitter.

Decent Cal Cab, with nice fruit and a generous nose of black berries. Lacking in structure for a wine claiming such a pedigree/price. Everything was up front with little on the finish. Little disappointing overall, or perhaps I was expecting too much.

Intersting @ first. Good nose with lots of berry. Chocolate start with tannin finish. Long legs. After a bit all there was seemed to be tannin and acid. Seemed less complex with each drink. It needs more time.

Tasted blind. Dark ruby with a bit of brick at the rim. Nose: fruity, black and red berries, slightly spirituous initially but that passed quickly, leathery, young. Rather full-bodied although first impression on the palate was it had no body at all - no tannins, almost no acidity - so glamourously soft and silky, like a heavily retouched model - very sexy for some, totally boring for others. Spicy and slightly bitter aftertaste, rather anonymous though not short.

Fogo De Chao - Chicago (Chicago): This wine needs more time. It has all the characteristics of what I'd expect from Stag's Leap and Rutherford cabs in general but it was a little green around the edges. No formal notes taken but remember thinking that this wine wasn't quite there yet. A few more years.
