Surprisingly, not as deep nor as exciting as the 2000 consumed a month ago. This still had plenty of fruit but felt a little empty on the mid-palate. Tasty and fun to open, but drink up!

The Grape Nuts tasted around 50 different grapes at this gathering and the Carlisle Mondeuse was one of the most appreciated. Beautiful dark ruby color, great fruit on nose and a mouthfull of great flavors.

14.9% ABV. Translucent dark garnet - quite a bit lighter in appearance than I recall. Swet strawberry nose with just a hint of a bottle sweet quality. Medium bodied with bright strawberry and cherry fruit and perhaps some secondary balsa wood and some late chalky tannin. I found myself marvelling that this would be a hard wine to assess blind. It had a certain Pinot Noir-like lightness to it, and it is among the most feminine Carlisle's I've had, but it doesn't have the typical flavors of a Pinot.

Wow. What a wine. Unexpected best of tasting. Starts out like a light zin and comes on stong with full fruit.
