  • I have a soft spot for Vincent Geantet's wines, so I expected this to be on eof those "little" wines that surprises you. It wasn't. A bit hollow and slightly vegetal, it was surprisingly disjoint, but giving how 1996s are showing these days, maybe I shouldn't have been surprised. Did get a bit better with air, but was never great. If you have bottles, I'd hold for 10 years and try again. Maybe 1996 is one of those vintages where the wines have to be fairly old to be enjoyable. At least it wasn't expensive.

  • A pleasant drink. Soft and fully mature, with a mustiness that I quite liked. Drink up.

  • A very nice bottle of wine. On the nose this showed dark cherry, slightly sour, and some nice earthy elements. On the palate this is medium weight and well balanced, tasting mostly of dark cherries. The tannins are mostly resolved, and this is drinking well right now. Nothing super exciting here, but a decent wine to serve with food.

  • My last of 3 bottles purchased. Previous bottles, as well as this one, have been very good and high quality, especially for a lieu dit. This one showed the typical cherry notes along with a little sois bois and cedar. The nose is captivating for the first half hour with alspice and cherry dominating, but then begins to receed some. The palate has plenty of acidity with the tannins mostly integrated. There is a very nice velvety texture that standsout. Still very fresh with decent length on the finish. I'm left with the feeling this wine will last a little longer, though previous bottles had me thinking different.
