Last bottle. Del Dotto cabs always make me smile and this bottle was no exception. Let it breathe all day. Luscious, coffee, violets, chocolate with oak. Drink now, doubt it will get better. Perfect filet wine.

This wine is most definitely NOT past its prime! Open and let it breath for at least 3 hours and your taste buds are in for a delectable treat. Deep purple color with strong legs paint your pallet with hints of dark berries, cherry, toffee, fennel, licorice, dark chocolate, oak ..... very dynamic taking you on a journey as it opens over time. The finish is smooth and dry. Well balanced and intriguing.

This blend is unbelievably good. The wine paired well with prosciutto and cheese as well as spinach artichoke dip. I wish I had more of this wine to enjoy another day.

Popped and poured. A fair amount of oak and ripe red and blueberries on the nose with a bit of spice. Sweet black cherry on the palate. Great balance. But the oak stood out a bit too much for me, likely because my palatte had changed since I purchased this 4 years ago.

14% ABV. Brief notes from memory. We tasted this alongside a '99 Pavie Decesse and it struck me as more similar than I would have expected. Cedar and waxy red currant fruit in a fairly restrained Cali Cab package. Ultimately not especially memorable though.

50+5+14+16+7 The nose changed dramatically from when we first opened it to the last drop a few hours later. On the palate were tart black cherry, vanilla, baking spice, a touch of toast, with hints of black plum arriving after a couple hours in the decanter. As we finished the bottle we began to find hints of smoke on the finish as well. Complex and well structured. Drinking beautifully right now, not likely to get any better than this.

Purchased at the winery. Stored at 55 deg. 14% ABV. Blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc. Beatiful dark ruby color. Toasty complex nose. Full-bodied flavor with dark deep fruits and graphite. Nice long finish. Has the boldness of california cab with the added complexity of a bordeaux. As good as when tasted at the winery.

Opened and decanted for an hour. Tart cherries and minerals on the nose that follow through to the palate where more complexity shows up with some black fruits that kind of run in and out depending on the sip. It's almost alternately sweet and sour on alternate tastes. Nice cassis flavors show up too and follow through to a 45 second finish. Actually better than I expected!
Even Better the second night after being left in the decanter with a glass ball stopper. More fruit and vanilla flavors...almost like candy!

Napa-Noma, May 2008: HTTH barrel. Bordeaux blend. Rather subdued nose. Rich waxy currant fruit. More red fruit on the palate with fine grained tannin late. Pretty good.

My 2nd favorite of the wines we tasted today at Del Dotto, but the one with the highest potential. From a blended barrel with medium toast. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Dark ruby/garnet color. Aromas of red berries, blue fruit and spice. Full-bodied, with loads of red fruit and spice on the palate. The thing that stood out is how well balanced this is, with the fruit, tannin and acidity all feeling just right. $85. 93-95 pts.

Though a little past its prime, the wine was great after decanting.

Dark berries, tobacco, spices with a hint of vanilla. Let it breathe for about 30 minutes.

Hmmm, honestly this is just ok at this point, certainly not as good as previous bottle. Very muted fruit with short finish...ouch.

Black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, and mocha notes. Rich mid-palate with long finish and smooth tannins.
