Opened with Luc Bouchard in Hong Kong. I am so happy this wine has improved in recent years. Last bottle I opened at Xmas 2010 was "down" and I thought the wine was now shot. It is not! Perhaps just going through a sleepy phase. Anyway, I am happy to report it is in great shape, with a lovely peppery nose as I recalled it, and a good fruit / acidity balance.
This was drinkable but just barely. There is a lot of brown around the rim and the wine is almost completely maderized. Bottle was in perfect condition and had been perfectly stored so not sure what happened here.
Unbleached cork. Layered complex nose of back and red fruits, floral elements, and earth. On the palate, well balanced, with mature black fruit, moderate finish. Lovely nose, and a taste which almost delivers the full promise of the nose.
