  • I was blown away by how good this bottle drank. Still lots of life left here with good fruit balanced by soft U& polished tannin and just the right amount of acidity to make it all work. Quite remarkable for a 15 year old working horse cali syrah and a testament for the quality and value in Novy wines -big koodos to Adam

  • Came out of the bottle with no stinky tennis shoe blow off. The nose was muted at first but proceeded to show up as the bottle warmed up. The color was deep and dark. The best part were the legs that showed up in the glass! Wow!... Oh... Sorry. The tannins are still evident but have softened and are quite pleasant in the mouth. The fruit was big and insistent and as the bottle warmed up [45mins] it showed tart, cherry and big fun. Maybe the fruit started to fade at about 2 hours [it was probably me]. A big California palate bomb fully mature. [15.1% alc.] Drink it up!

  • Took to dinner, along with the Lemelson Stermer. One of my older Novys now, as I work towards drinking the 01s and onto the 02s. Have not tasted this one in a long time. Right out of the bottle for the decanter, ripe attack on the nose. Bottle says 15.1% but I would guess higher. After an hour, back into the bottle for dinner. Over my pesto pizza and roasted beet and goat cheese salad, this wine stays in the form of a bruiser. Vanilla, blackberry liquer nose--giant, with spice and floral character. On the palate, well, same flavors persist but add a note of cherry. My only complaint is the finish: the wine is mostly front palate and while it did seem to release some of the palate as it sat through dinner, not sure if it will get better or not. The wine is big, a little hot and full of sweet spice. Maybe not the best wine withy subtle food but great with the beets. Gave the last 1/2 of the bottle to my bro-in-law for them to enjoy tonight.
