Amzing how this wine stands the time. Surely you still pont as a New World with the licorice and roses but is so amazing delicate, integrated and balanced. Was worth to forget this in the cellar!

Pretty cherry color in the glass, and you can actually see your fingers through it. Wow, this wine has lovely aromas of cola, sweet black cherries, but it’s fresh, not as hedonistic as a lot of CA pinots. Lovely raspberries and a bit of carmelized sugar on the nose, too. Aromatically, this wine is something to be reckoned with. Eleven years in, this wine is drinking quite perfectly right now. I’d be surprised if most people held onto this wine for that long, but if you did, you’re in for a treat. The wild raspberry and black cherry fruit is pure and smooth. Hints of caramel, dust, chocolate shavings and vanilla bean give this wine the feeling a dessert-like aspect. The finish is long and seamless. The tannins are soft and the oak is very nuanced. Overall, this wine is very elegant. No alcohol heat, no overbearing oak, no goopy fruit, just pure deliciousness. The last glass was the best, and this wine still has some life ahead of it.

Nose is very elegant with vanilla and cherries with hint of cola. Smooth mouthfeel with good peppery tannins and bright acidity. The cherry flavors have a baked, vanilla dessert-like aspect to them. A long, spicy finish. This is drinking really well right now. Quite good.

Again, has gained depth and flavor since inception. In an ideal spot right now. Almost = to the outstanding 02 Clark & Telephone. The Wagner's are doing a great job with this wine. Thankfully it has a normal foil wrap, and not the impossible wax wrapping of the succeeding vintage(s).

Much better now. Was OK but underwhelming on release, especially when contrasted w the outstanding 02 Clark&Telephone. Now it has put on weight, and is an excellent balanced Pinot. When Ellen asked Joshua, our 7 year old Grandson to take a whiif. HE SAID IT SMELLS LIKE ALL OUR WINES! Shows what time will do.

Nice pale red color, complex nose and taste of soft tannins and fruit with a nice lingering finish. The bottle just kept getting better as it was given time to open. Took this to a wine tasting and was one of most enjoyed wines there. Exceptional wine that was optimal for drinking now. Wish I had a few more bottles.

Nice color. Medium weight. Some interesting earth notes. Tannins are sorta sweet and smooth. Acid still bites a bit. But in a word? Flat. Drink now, don't wait

Much better than the last bottle. Not sure what the difference was but this had nice smooth tannins that were well integrated. Some barnyard but a nice bottle now.

I have to agree with the last poster this wine underdelivered, first time drinking had nice scents of fruit but sorta hit my tongue dead, real flat taste not layered or interesting enough to pay more than $10-$12 for. Eye appeal is the wax seal on the bottle and that was the most interesting thing about it.

i've had this wine five times now with varying degree of enjoyment, from "wow" to "wha???" I wasn't going to post the score for the unfavorable wines, but i owe it to the community to post my opinion, no matter how (in)valid that might be.
This wine seemed to disappear within ten minutes of being poured. After opening, the wine had very pleasing pinot aromas. The color was on the lighter side of ruby/cherry red. I even enjoyed the first few sips. Then it all vanished. It went flat as all the fruit disapaited. I'm guessing it is on the swift downside since I have had an enjoyable glass or two at tastings, and even enjoyed my first bottle over a year ago. But now it is past its prime. Curious to try to '02 to see if the extra year of vine life might help.

84-85. Difficult to get anything from the nose other than menthol and minty scents. No single flavor really came out at any time with perhaps the lone exception of the mint, plus, it was a bit hot on the mouth from the alcohol. First of four bottles, will lay the others down for a couple of years, hopefully it will be better in 2007.

Light blood red, Total a-typical Californial Pinot. Bing cherry's, floral elements, red roses, tulips. Soft and elegant on the palate. 8 months of French oak is well integrated and the wine has a nice balance. Slightly hot on the finish with 14.2% Alc. this is best drunk with a slight chill. Delicious accompaniment with Guacamoli and tri-color-slad.

Belle Glos Winery is a project devoted to Pinot Noir and headed by Chuck Wagner of Caymus fame. The name comes from Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, co-founder of Caymus Vineyards. The winemaker is Jon Bolta. The initial release is made from 2001 vintage Santa Maria fruit. I didn't like this at all. It had a pronounced hot alcoholic flush and is a bit sweet. Though it tries hard to exhibit the characteristics of a big and fruity Cal Pinot (c.f. Gary's or Pisoni), the taste components were simple, sweet, and unintegrated.

Has begun to develop secondarily. Vibrant acidity indicates it will continue to develop. Wish I had known, last bottle.
