Disappointing but nothing like the pre-ox bottle I had. Had hoped for a big Montrachet nose and flavor, this was thin and acidic at first but opened as it warmed and became acceptable but certainly not something to be excited about. The fruit was thin, the nose mineral with some peach and citrus overtones, mid bodied but not much of a finish and no sweetness or hopefullness on it. Ahh the French.

Medium straw, gold tints. Ripe creamy pear fruit on the nose, hint of soil and lightly honeyed (no butterscotch this time though). Medium full bodied, ripe creamy pear and stone fruit on the intial attack, fresh acidity but not out of balance this time, hints of citrus and soil on a very good length finish. Much better than the last bottle.

Medium straw, slightly dull appearance. Nose shows appley fruit, well integrated creamy oak, hint of butterscotch - not particularly complex. High acidity on the palate, less noticeable as it warms, intense fruit with a lingering limey acidic finish. Certainly has power and concentration but not much in the way of elegance, class or complexity. (Unnecessarily) impressive packaging but was expecting more of the contents.

Heavy bottle, with a very long cork in fine condition; pale straw gold in colour, with a weighty appearance on swirling; intense aromas of citrus fruit and honey; full bodied and beautifully textured; the oak is tempered nicely so as to be quite unobtrusive - allowing the fruit to prevail; exceptionally fine acidity; flavours of lemon and tart orange, with plenty of mineral - washed stone; some nutty flavours there, too; very long satisfying finish, where the fruit rolls on and the acidity continues to ready the palate for the next mouthful of King Crab legs. This wine hasn't hit its peak yet, but all of the components are there to suggest a very fine bottle - drinkable over the next 8 to 10 years. Sometimes Guy's wines enter a dumb stage after a few years, but this one is remarkably fresh and enticing. A winner!

Un vin en pleine forme qui révèle toute la minéralité du terroir sans aucun excès de bois, complètement absorbé par l'age.

Started out quite acidic and shrill but opened up nicely after about an hour. Nothing extraordinary but this is a good, satsifying mature white burg.
