Medum bodied, traditional styling, natural cork holding up well.
Followed over 5 days, while delicious at PnP the last day was the best and easily could have continued on. Nice blend of sweetness and acidity, both tree and tropic fruit elements, lemongrass, toasted wheat. Not as typically cloying or caramel-like as its bretheren from Sauternes. Good complexity and length, excellent balance.
Ready today, but no rush to drink -- this will age decades more.

I had forgotten about this bottle for a while, which was unfortunate as I remembered getting it from WineBid with an ever so slightly elevated cork. I had pretty low expectations.
It opened with a bit of a weird, almost oxidized note that took a while to blow off. It honestly reminded me of a premoxed white burg we had opened a few nights ago. There was bright acid and plenty of complexity underneath, but I never was quite able to shake the feeling that this was either a poorly stored bottle or over the hill.
It's a shame as I've had good experiences with other late '90s Baumard QdC in the past few years.

Syrah Night with an Expanded Version of Our Tasting Group (Bear and Star, Los Olivos, CA): My last of these, each a consistent winner, no variations noted so I repeat my prior TNs: Effortlessly elegant, more restrained than lush, with pleasing minerality accompanying notes of apple and muted citrus, crushed pebbles and honeyed pear. Fine acidity. Lengthy, satisfying finish.

Served by a friend to accompany dessert. Half bottle, which has been kept well. Yellow/gold colour. Rich palate, lemons, mandarins, peaches. As expected, this is sweet, but less so than a Sauternes. Good length and depth. Drinking perfectly and if stored well, will surely keep for another 20 years.

Still fresh, still lively...But it seemed like a milder version of what I have come to expect from this wine. Lacked fruit depth and seemed a bit out of balance, leaning towards acidity. Still good...Drink

First dessert wine I ever bought, and kept it professionally cellared for 13 years. I was expecting something a little richer and sweeter, but the complexity was a pleasant surprise. I could sit and drink a small glass very slowly.

Nose of passion fruit, apple, mango, with hints of pineapple. Palate had a toasted straw/hay/wheat flavor with a light apricot-like taste, definitely tasted some minerals. Body was on the light, ethereal side, acid just a tad too high. Finish was medium, with a very slight acrid, sour note at the very end. I imagine this to go well with nothing more heavy than a sorbet. A bit simple.

Bottle had been open for about 2 days but refrigerated the whole time. I was poured a glass and let it gradually come up close to room temp. The nose is gorgeous, lots minerality, slightly oxidative notes of bruised apple, also lemon pith and orange blossom. On the palate it's sweet and silky but with a tart, zingy acid component. Lovely balance of flavors, part citrus but also with more of the apple, a touch of limestone, and honeyed pear. Lengthy, tapering finish that lasts for a long time. An outstanding wine.

Nice golden color, a touch of rust. Nose of honeysuckle and lemon zest. Apricot, grapefruit, vanilla, and honey. Nice concentration and mouth feel. Medium finish compared to similar CB, with a puckering bitter note that was not unpleasant.
I did not find this as cloying as the 97 or 05, definitely brighter acidity leading to a more balanced CB experience. Would buy again for the price, and hope that my remaining 97's and 05's can exceed this someday.

Another great wine in a night of some great bottles. Gold. Great nose and palate of honey, spring flowers and some light spices. Great viscosity, maybe just a bit cloying, but being nit-picky, as the acidity was right there. Just explodes in the mouth with a myriad of lovely flavors.

Chenin Blanc Wine Dinner Chez Brooklynguy: What a showing for this wine! One of the better wines of the night for me. Incredibly beautiful nose of ripe orchard fruit, dripping with mineral intensity, and so fresh and youthful. This wine has a long life ahead of it. On the palate it's a wash of apricot and herbal honey supported by cracking acidity, loads of minerals, and a finish that lingers and changes, becomes pleasingly bitter. This had a cleansing effect, if you know what I mean. A superb showing, and further proof that even in "off" vintages, great Lire producers make wines of incredible class, balance, and longevity.

Light gold color. Wow, gorgeous nose of quince, honey, caramel. On the palate, apricots, more honey and some almonds. Light on its feet, terrific acidity on the mid palate with a long finish that doesn't quit. Actually my first experience with this wine and I'm glad I bought a bunch of '02 and '05.

Turning a rich honeydew color. Nose of nectarine and quince (maybe some peach and pear too). one guest tonight thought it tasted of prunes. A bit of wood showed thru on the flavor. Elegant and balanced - a rare sweet wine that i can drink more than one glass of. Best dessert wine I've had yet (limited experience admittted).

Someone brought this to my house for last Sunday's debauchery. I did not see it until people had left and I was cleaning up the bottles. This was still about a third full, so I took a taste and it was a very nice desert wine I was not familliar with. I shoved a cork in it and put it in the refrigerator. I took it out tonight, six days later. This is a wonderful wine. Apricots, pineapple and tropical fruits with botrytis and moderate sweetness but the sweetness is honey rather than plain sugar. It reminds me of a Kracher BA. Not overly intense, more moderate, less cloying, less biting botrytis, but an excellent balance instead. Not at all syrupy and although sweet, that is not the principal flavor. I never had this wine before. I would certaily not mind having it again.

Otis brought this to the kybo dinner last weekend. We drank this with some cabernet blackberry sorbet and on its own. I believe this is the first Baumard QdC that I have had (although I have always wanted to try the 2002). I would call this a delicate dessert wine (at least compared to the Kracher that we had after it). Light bodied and very ethereal. Notes of white pear and quince. A good match for the sorbet. Probably would have been overmatched by the chocolate dessert that we had after it. I enjoyed this very much. 92 points.
