  • Intensely herbaceous. Stewed wet grass and lemon oil, some asparagus and gooseberry. A strong mineral core, wet slate. Still drinking well. It is a very well made and fascinating wine, but not, in my opinion, worth the very high price.

  • Bonham's and Butterfield Pre-auction tasting (San Francisco, CA): Minerally, citrus; great fresh texture, slightly oily, citrus, white fruit. 91-92

  • An astonishing bottle of wine - cat pee nose softening to a sort of summery grassiness. Green almost Mosel like colour showing no signs of age . On the palate started out with a fierce minerality and then softened in the glass to a deep long apricot and melon finish . Amazing stuff.

  • Perhaps a little better than my last bottle. Very Sauvignon Blanc nose and taste (citrus, melon etc...) Good acidity. Very nice with fennel, blood orange and toaste almond salad

  • This bottle was in good condition, but there was a tiny finger of wine that tracked up the side of the cork to the top and barely stained the outer surface of the cork (no capsules on these wines). Perhaps this affected the wine slightly, but there were no signs of premature aging or any cooked qualities to it. Initial mouldy funk blew off quickly to reval an intense and unmistakable sauvignon blanc nose. Sauvignon fruit and minerality with high acidity and some wood influence. I liked this, but there was something slightly cloying about it. I have preferred the Pur Sang in the past and perhaps it is a style difference. Also (especially when one considers price), it is hard for me to say that this is any better than some Lucien Crochets that I have tried. This is a high acid wine and is not showing any signs of fading, but I am not sure how much it can improve from here. Good, intense, not great.

  • Interesting color that looks sort of like apple juice. The nose is pure flint and stone with slite apple and pear aromas as well as gooseberry and maybe a little bit of cat pee. The palate is rich and broad supported my waves of acid. A wine that is at once fat and linear.

  • Loved it. Really impressive concentration and flinty nose. Fat and rich on the palate. Given the stainless elevage, I would have expected more austerity. The acidity is well balanced, keeping the wine from any sense of flabbyness. Served with shrimp scampi and a fried endive salad. An accidental but excellent pairing!

  • Last one but it was time. Soft yellow this has a kick butt nose. Vanilla and spice with chunks of chalky minerals. Citrus, steel, lemon grass and botanicals on the palate. Citrus curd on a drying finish. Really wild SB with great carrying acidity. The fruit is becoming a bit hollow. More concentrated than the Pur Sang that I usually prefer. I need Thai food.
