I had downloaded my cellar into excel and was doing some sorts to see what 'problems' come to the top --I noticed this bottle was the LOWEST CT rating bottle I had. I updated my WS and see they now rate it ... hmm ..CT at under 78 points (as of 5/8/09) and WS at 90. So I had to pop and pour it. I do not drink much of Monastrell (had to look up notes - see CT# 45278 Taja or 437910 Panarroz (killer Costco deal whenin Florida) or 257002 Hecula ) but I have liked these as well --so out comes Oxford Companion (on line version) to have Jancis Robinson remind me that is is a division of Mourvèdre ( hmm ...wonder why Eric doesn't consolidate variety listings?)
Anyways - reminds me of Cote du Rhone on the nose - earthy and just that right 'spice' -- hardly a sub 80 bottle .... ... probably I prefer a 'blend' over a straight Monastrell on a pure personal taste preference.

Le premier nez était le plus aguicheur. Il présentait des notes animales, de fruit noir et d'épices. Avec l'oxygénation, il se transforme avec une note plus...réglisse noire. Les tanins sont présents, mais arrondis par un alcool (14,5%) excessif. Même goût épicé et de réglisse noire. Il a laissé peu de place aux mets (bison et brochettes de cerf et de sanglier sur B.B.Q.).

Sweet and oaky with med+ acid.
