Huge wine. Deep black fruit showing some signs of development. Tannins still firm and grippy. Drinking now but certainly no hurry. This has decades ahead.

Deep purplish red colour. Powerful nose with ripe dark berries (blackberries, dark cherries), some cooked fruit/fruitcake, salt liquorice, some vanilla, some slate and powdered stone, hints of animal notes and hints of other developed notes. Palate with a good concentration of dark berries, smooth and well integrated tannins (but in a sense there's a lot of them), some alcoholic feeling towards the end, and a long aftertaste with dark berries and alcohol. Overall a well polished wine that drinks well now, will keep, 92 pts.
If the alcohol (the label says 14.5%) had been better integrated this wine would have merited a higher score (94?) because the fruit and the tannins are really beautiful.

Finally a sound bottle! Deep, opaque red color. Aromas of red plums and black cherries, licorice, mocha and wood spices. Ripe, highly extracted, fully-integrated fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. Nicely suave and silky on the palate. The WOTN and in middle of peak drinking period.

This wine was very good, but I felt that it just never opened up all the way. Dark purple fruits, dark bing cherry, violet, white pepper, chocolate, slate, and coffee on the finish. Compared to the Douro Abandonado that I had alongside it, everything seemed just a bit muddled and muted. Clearly a very nice wine, but I think it would have been better to wait 5 or so years to open it. This is 60% Garnacha with Cab Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Carinena and I think it could have used a little more acid to brighten it up (these are all low relatively low acid grapes). Honestly, I expected a little more from a wine with this price tag and pedigree. Excellent with Rack of Lamb and Porchetta. Better out of Bordeaux Glass rather than Hermitage glass.

We were somewhat disappointed by this bottle. It was the very first 2005 Dofí that we opened, right after tasting an Amadis (Rottlan Torra) Priorat. We love Priorat wines ... hoping the next bottle of 2005 Dofí will prove that this bottle was "sub standard".

Dark garnet. Grilled herbs, leather, cedar and cinnamon on the nose. Modest herbal funkiness. Red fruit, dried cherries, tobacco, stones and long herbal finish. Nice complexity. Did need at least an hour to fully open up.

Totally in my wheelhouse. Gorgeous aromatics. Grenache gives it wonderful fleshy fruit, raspberry. Nose is more cedar, graphite & smoke. Touch of funk with air. Love it. More California cab fruit profile than your typical Spanish Tempranillo.

From magnum. Nose of spice, red fruit. Initial palate is red cherry. This is soon complemented by spices, vanilla, rhubarb. Beautiful tannins that suggest many years of cellaring are ahead.

My worries that this would show as sappy, resinous and all-around overly ripe, were unfounded. Instead, this showed brilliantly, with really great lift, and the EtOH fully resolved. Fine tannins frame this sensibly full-bodied effort quite artfully. Much more balanced and fresh than I was expecting. Held since release and Audozed for 8 hours prior to service. Really happy with my purchase. 14,5% abv, drink thru 2024, recommended
Served non-blind. Excellent with my main course of pappardelle with cinghiale

Red Spain (Riga): Nose of olives or some vegetables as well as licorice, pencil lead. Also balsamico and caramelised onions. Tannins still strong. Complex and elegant. Very interesting development in the glass. (A-)

Tasted after 8+ hour slow O. Thick, resinous nose of sweet, dark fruits, oak, and earth - in that order. Full bodied with a rather soft mouthfeel, the tannins are integrated and the acid just barely keeping the wine in check. Palate caresses and coats the tongue with honey, maple syrup, cardamon, nutmeg, plums, blackberries, and black licorice. Not certain of what to think, there are elements that I like, I think if there was more acidity to make the flavors pop, and a little more structure to give the flavors a space - then this wine is a home run. That could probably be said of more than a few wines, I guess I just wanted to like this wine more than I did. If I had any cellared, I'd definitely check in on the evolution this wine soon to see how it is aging.

Alvaro Palacios' Finca Dofi: 2000-2007: Opened for 2 hours. Dark color. Forrest floow on nose, very balsamic. Palate had completely fallen down. A bad bottle.

Drank at El Celler de L'Aspic. Dark purple color. 14.5% alcohol. Needs to open up as still tight after 15 minutes. Quite a bit of oak on the nose. Very smooth on the palate with long finish.

Big, big wine. Was a bit overpowering until decanted for an hour. More balanced slightly oaked cool mineral flavors. This wine needs a while to be at it's prime and will be really, really good. Tight and big with great body.

Rich ruby-garnet color, nose dominated by bright red fruit, red apple skin, and red Jolly Rancher candy. Creamy, milky vanilla quality adds to the mouthfeel. Loses concentration entering finish. Still primary.

Did not have the opportunity to take extensive notes. This wine was deep, rich and complex. The palate exceeded the nose, which was light and fruity. The wine, dark garnet in the glass, revealed mocha, tobacco, spices, and rich fruit. It's hefty, but not so much that it did not overpower the selection of cheeses we enjoyed alongside. Ihav emore and am glad I do.

Dark garnet color, nose of pipe tobacco, vanilla, candy apple, white peppercorns, and wet leaves. Palate has good concentration, chocolate-grenadine character, a milky texture, and gripping acidity and tannins. Quite young.
