Leafy aromas with blackberry and a touch of campfire. Sappy and spicy, very spicy, savory, and quite expansive on the palate with waves of black fruit. The finish is surprisingly tannic after 15 years, dusty, nice acidity, but just a little coarse. Quite enjoyable.

Chose as the Christmas dinner wine - definitely had the "wow" factor going for my brother-in-law, seemed to be at its peak to me and not close to fading. Had cellared since I bought direct from winery, and it was rich and robust with lots of dark fruits. Stood up to the occasion.

Tanzer 2005 WA Cabernets and Blends (Palace Ballroom, Seattle, WA): Tanzer 2005 WA CABs - flight 1/4 with 05 Chester-Kidder and Betz. Lovely cab franc nose, but a bit lighter in the mid-pallet and loads of acidity on this wine. The only non-cab sauv of the night and really an unfair pairing with the Betz.

Very nice bottle. Elegant, velvety, nicely integrated oak and tannins. Wish I'd waited another couple years before opening this--I imagine it'll be peaking around 2013.

Wow, I had nearly a polar-opposite drinking experience as the taster immediately below. I suspect his bottle was corked or otherwise flawed. This wine has great depth. Black plum, chocolate, and coffee notes. Old world minerality. The wine performed well over four nights in the sealed bottle, with no decline whatsoever to the last glass. It's still a baby, seems it could last decades, and I might be underrating it.

Very earthy, with black cherry and dark berry flavors as well as a little peppery spice. Took about 2 hours to really open up, but once it did we were impressed.

Aromas: Bacon fat; Black Plum; Garrigue; Baking spice
Flavors: Plum, Baking spice; Caramel
Overall: Had this in a dark setting and was but one of dozens of wines that night. Not one of the best, but certainly a solid wine. I strongly suspect it will improve with time.

Needed an hour to come around, beautiful balanced profile. Dark black fruit with a touch of spice. Everything integrated. Nice wine...drink up.

PNP'd over 4 hours. Fruit on the nose. The palate was plum, tobacco and coffee. A nice smooth finish which brought out flavors of dried herbs.

Big and intense. No fading of this fruit. Well balanced in acidity and tannin. Could be about perfect right now.

No notes but highly enjoyable if a little faded. Under ripe zone, tannins in deference, good fruit. I bet this was pretty big at one point.

After opening in decanter for a couple hours it fleshed out very nicely with a very silky, full moithfeel. Displayed the savory WA character nicely.

Weak and unimpressive from first sip to second day tasting. Too bad...tasted much deeper at the winery.
