Still a wonderful wine-- But drink now. Strawberries, mushroom. Long finish. 2006 pinots from the Santa Barbara and upper regions are doing remarkably well now in the 1st half of 2015.

Medium red, a little brick at edge. Strawberries, leather - fragrant. Fruit attcks with big concentration of strawberry, spice, new world pinot for sure. Silky texture with still solid acidity. This has a substantial bitter element- possibly from alcohol - and I find it unpleasant.

Mahoganey. Barnyard, tabacco, strawberry jam, mature nose. Medium concentration ripe mature fruit and earthiness. Very full, silky body. Alcohol on finish adds to thick texture. Drink up.

Resolved color, aged light red; nose of spice and tangy cherry, sweet, plump, rhubarb; aged palate, thin, alcohol showing, sweet, acidic; drink up as these are probably past peak though not bad.

the flavors have moved into a delicate burgundy style with some fruit, good acidity, and earthy flavors. i would not hold this longer but it was very pleasing tonight. it is not a pinot for an every day drinker b/c it lacks the fruit and big nose that might be more of a crowd pleaser. full mouth feel, very nicely integrated tannins and balanced with acidity. definitely food friendly.

Incredibly light red out of the bottle. Nose of rose petals, and some dirt/earthy funk. Interesting mix of very light candied fruit and earthiness on the palate. Agree with others that the finish is a bit tart, but that is less of a problem with some air. Light mouthfeel overall. Very basic.

Earth/tar/menthal. Cranberries/cherries. Light bodied. Good fruit burst on the finish. Pretty textbook Pinot. LIttle bit of candied fruit. Very smooth. Day 3 - there is a certain bitterness that puts me off.

Good generic pinot with no flaws and plenty of enjoyment. Tasted head to head with Flowers Sonoma coast which seemed tight and restrained in comparison to the fuller fruit and mouth feel of the Siduri. The SLh is loose but not flabby or overblown, and was a good accompanyment for food, but not as good as the Flowers might be. Good routine pour.

Pinot 1 of 6 as part of a blind tasting. Light ruby color, very light in fact. Looked like watered down cranberry juice. Somewhat closed on the nose with some simple red fruit, some vanilla and a bit of earthiness. Strawberry and cherry flavors on the palate with a touch of menthol. Medium acid, tart finish and a bit thin on the mouthfeel. Nothing special here. Most had this in 5th place.

Was a bit underwhelmed by this wine on night 1. Popped and poured. The wine struck me as being somewhat simplistic. On night 2 there was definitely more complexity on the palate and it paired great with salmon. Very good wine, particularly for the price. Score reflects night 2 impressions.

2009 Family Winemakers of California San Diego Tasting (Del Mar Fairgrounds): Quite a heady nose with loads of cherry, earth, and Pinot funk. The palate is soft and attractive with sweet earthy fruit and respectable balance. I would like to see a little more complexity and edge from this wine but it is well made.

when accessing the CT! inventory to post this note, it was a stark remimder of the dizzying number of wines produced by siduri. good on 'em...i guess. this wine blends right into the SLH ethos, for better or worse. the wine wasn't hot in the traditionally alcoholic sense, but i wrote down the word "warm" indicating it's blandness. let's say it lacked personality.

14.1% alcohol. Bright cherry color. Lovely bouquet of black cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, with minerals and spice lurking behind. In the mouth, quite plush, with that nice mix of red and black fruit, a subtle spiciness, and good minerality bolstering the acidity. Lovely finish. Beautiful stuff to drink now. A-

Nice nose of cherries and spice. The palate matches the nose, but is a little bitter and harsh with a more pronounced woody component to the spice. Substantial with a relatively long finish.

Sam's Wine Shop Tasting Event 11/11/08: compared 2006 Siduri Abre Vert, Clos Pepe, Santa Lucia Highlands pinot noirs. Many of the grapes for this wine from "Garys' Vineyar" (Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni). Winemaker says: "The '06 vintage may be the fullest-bodied SLH since the 1999 offering." Another excellent pinot noir, bouquet opened more slowly but developed nicely. Adam Lee says this wine will peak somewhat earlier than the Clos Pepe.

Roasted fruit notes, blueberry, rasberry, and cherry; also some herbal tones, and brown spices. Ripe and lush, does not have the elegance that other of the 2006s have, but it makes up for it in concentration and complexity. Pure blueberry and raspberry flavors are attractive for their ripeness, but the finish does have notable heat, and the fruit flavors seemed to become progressively more roasted as the wine approached room temprature. I would watch the temperature closely with this.

Yesss. This is strong, spicy California pinot that doesn't need five years in the cellar to start tasting like something. A great blend of red fruit, cola, tobacco and cedar. I'm sure it will hold up a few years, but there's really no reason to wait.

Wine was mildly corked upon opening. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. A bit earthy at first with some spices and florals. Zippo fruit. Dared to taste. Muted palate that was earthy with some berries. Light to medium acidity, medium taninns and body. Took a whiff from the same bottle about 30 minutes later and it was over the top corked by that point. Shame.
