Nice nose. Hints of oak, pepper & black fruit. Soft finish, mild tannins, low acidity w/ a touch of spice to finish. Hints of cinnamon we/ cherry coming through.

I enjoyed this wine. Has a nose of sour cherry, licorice, pepper, and cedar. The palate was medium to full bodied with blackberries, blueberries, small amount of red fruit, with a nice dose of vanilla and oak. Finished nice and smooth; the bottle did not last long.

Devin and I enjoyed this after a couple of single malts at our favorite place, Hanna’s RSM CA. This is a big fruity and dare I say sweet Zin. It color is perfect. Dark purply ruby in color. On the nose I got fruits up the ying yang, like cherries, and even melon. It was coating the glass well as we drank it. In the mouth, it was thick and chewy and had a lasting almost, I said almost too sweet after taste. Pared with the right meal, which we did not, this would have been a great pour. Grab a bottle and give it a spin.

Rich dark fruits, heavy oak, vanilla, cookie spices. Pretty nice structure with strong acidic kick up front. This is a pretty potent wine that comes close to tasting like dessert.

Have had much better ones before. Toasty on the first night without much obvious fruit. On the next night (capped and refrigerated in the meantime in a completely filled 375ml) the fruit was a little more prevalent but the oak was still the most prominent note. Hotter and more bitter on the finish that second time around.

My notes lately, well, they've sucked. I've been busy, so I've just enjoyed drinking more than writing. I'll try to be better...if you care. I have recently started drinking my zins more often due to some information I've gotten from some friends that zins don't hold well for too long. Well, I think that may be wrong. This one actually was great. I drank one glass with a chicken marsala that my wife made with pasta and a lemon-vinaigrette dressing my wife made...she's a wonderful cook. It had more bite earlier with dinner. Now, 3 hours later (after band practice) it's velvety smooth. Just enough fruit with a soft finish. I guess I described more my thoughts than the taste, but, whatever... it's not like anyone cares about my opinion on wine, maybe it's better if I entertain the reader. Yeah, that's what I'll do. Seriously, this zin is great. I'm down to a 2006 and a 2005. When to drink... maybe a vertical of 2. And, any expert, please give me some feedback on the "hold" of most zins. Please.

smooth, rich, and easy to drink. This really wasn't what I expected. I really expected a lot more pop and fruit, however, it just had very rich flavors and drank well. Decanted for about 30 minutes and opened up well. This didn't have the power/zing that the 05 had, but it is drinking well, unlike the 05 which had some serious pop, but, unless it is to "revive," it is done.

– popped and poured – – tasted non-blind over 2-3 hours – -- 100% Zinfandel --
NOSE: this bouquet is somewhat tight, but does give lots of cedar, dark purple fruits, a bit chalky minerality, and notes of anise and oak.
BODY: clear; garnet color of medium depth; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: wow - this tastes extracted, and kind of strikes me as having some Petite Sirah in the blend (even though there isn’t); flavors of blackberries and oak dominate the full palate, while the tannins are smooth. 15.4% alc.; 3.7 pH; not as polished as the ‘04, which is still staying strong, but this ‘06 certainly has the stuffing to lay a while as well. Drink now - 2013. Purchased for $40 -- would not buy again at that price.

Might have waited too long to drink it. Loss of fruit and very dry. Would have worked better with food.

From a magnum. Fantastic zin. One of our favorites. Needed some time to open up but was great after about an hour once the alcohol blew off.
