The funk is still assaulting the snout, and this bottle has a more forward acidity. Leaning towards 89 for this bottle, and I'm feeling generous today.

Is this a fluke? The funk on the nose is considerably pronounced on this bottle. Really some definitive sheep butt going on with the olfactory sensation. The cherry cola is still on the palette.

Cherry and slight earth on the nose. Full bodied w/high alc (14.5%) and acidity, still the mixture works...sort of. Flavors of tart cherry, cranberry and spice stand out. Should improve w/several more years under its belt.

Decanted 1 hour and served slightly chilled. Wonderful nose of strawberry, rhubarb, and vanilla spice on the nose. The fruit was bright and fresh with ample acidity, making this a great food wine. I think this is one of the best California PN for $20. Drinking great now. Wish I had more.

I really liked this wine. Immediately on the nose there was a unique, distinct spiciness. It started out with ginger, then evolved toward nutmeg, and finally, something like cloves. Really a treat, and in a class by itself. Very nicely balanced and integrated. The couple extra years of bottle age helped. Really nice combination of dark cherry and plums with all that spiciness. Also has a delightful touch of smoke on the finish.

Outstanding bottle of wine!!! Beautiful earthy and aromas of berries and pure Pinot fruit, which followed onto the deliciuous palate, which was gracious and generous!

A little too roboust and fruit forward to me. I like my PNs to be a little more austere on fruit with more minerality and acidity. With that said, nice cherry fruit on the palate, a little cola and vanilla and a long finish. Fruit forward nature went well with baked chicken.

Dark burgundy color, through which one's fingers may still be seen. Totally new-world fruit up front, with just enough acidity & pinot-spice to keep it from being "over the top". The palate shows ripe black-cherry, a hint of rhurbard, & some Dr. Pepper. A decent seam of acidity keeps the finish fresh & spicy. Acceptable QPR at this price point. [14.1% abv.; $22.00].

Complex barnyard and cherry pie aromas lead to a juicy palette with bacon fat. The dirt has softened to a lovely black licorice finish that lasts 30 seconds or more. Paired ok with a rosemary scented pork loin roast.

I enjoyed this and was amazed at how deep the color was. If is very full and silky across the tongue with a faint hint of alcohol. Has a lot of punch for a PN that is dominated by cherry, earth, some spice and a little of the funk. As was previously mentioned I have trouble believing this is 100% PN, like it has something with some weight blended in. Also, it really benefited from aeration, about an hour to two hours open in the bottle seemed to be it's happy place for me.

This is a full bodied Pinot... Very tasty, but do not let it stand for long after you open it. It has a lot of fruit on the palate. Plum and Cherry I believe. It also has hints of vanilla in it. I love this wine and it pairs very well with any food that has more spice to it. Like I had it with Chinese food and I loved the combination.

Medium to light pinot with a nice aroma, strawberry and a bit of rhubarb on the palate, very nice everyday pinot, and plenty of acidity to work with many meals.

Nose of raspberry and strawberry with some pinot funk buried in a wave of heat. Palate is warm and smooth, but a little flabby. Finish is medium in length, rather simple but adds some oak and subtle earth. Seems a little too hot on the finish, I think it's a bit over extracted. Still, an excellent QPR, but I liked the previous vintages better.

Very pretty light ruby dancing in the glass, cherry, barnyard and dirt on the nose, and echoed on the palette, with the dirt a little more pronounced. This vintage has some potential.
The next day the finish was joined by delicious bacon fat at the very end. If this can be found on the next bottle the score goes to 90.

Hints of cherries and a slightly floral scent. Not particularly deep in fruit. About a 15-20 second finish. Still a good effort from Byron, but did not enjoy it as much as the 2004.

Alas! Da funk is deceased and has been replaced by the unmistakable scent of cherry sours. Cherry pie and black licorice on the palette.

Suprisingly this is really good pinot for the money. Definately riper in style but still has a sense of place and balance.

Bottle aging. Barnyard and cherry aromas and flavors are intensifying. Bacon fat still there at the end. Dirt could be receding. Buy more.
