A great showing from the get go with a bit of improvement over about 2 hours. Elegant ripe red and dark fruit, hint of earth and leather, great texture. Med+ body with good acidity and tannins in the background.

Opened and followed over the course of about 4 hours. Initially, this one had a little bit of mushroom on the nose with a little bit of wet cardboard, and a rusty quality about the pour. The cork had been invaded about 3/4 of the way, but was not completely saturated. There was no noticeable malodorous quality about the cork. Significant dark purple and maroon tartrate. Initially, the fruit that broke through was toasted dates and figs. After 1 hour, black cherry notes started to emerge. The toasted figs and dates were still very much there. The middle started getting a little bit of sweetness, and the finish had a gritty, dusty resolving tannin with softer qualities and some black pepper. I can definitely imagine the tannin on this was much stiffer not more than 10 years ago. And, on a whole, I do feel like this one is starting is decent from the top of the curve. This one was probably a little more balanced and youthful two or three years ago, but still extremely enjoyable in its own right at this point in time. Definitely a little hint of tertiary notes, and even more glad I decided to open this and enjoy it tonight. Really no better time in my opinion! A very nicely, well-made wine approaching almost 20 years of age.

Clear Medium Ruby, Clean nose of medium plus intensity of cooked black fruit, black cherry, coconut, leather, meat, wet stone. The wine is fully developed. On the palate, it is dry, with medium acidity, medium plus soft, tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium plus flavor intensity of prunes, vanilla, leather, coconut. The finish is medium. Very good, wine, drink now, can be aged further, but I think that it is at its peak.

Initially a green onion nose which I have never had on a wine before and this was very off putting. It improved with time and my score reflects the improved wine.
Body was medium but finish was shortish. I expected a lot more from this wine. B7 T7.5

An hour to breath. Nose is lychee and blueberry, some cedar and leather. Fruit forward Cali Cab. Tannins completely resolved. Integrated secondary flavors of dried cherries, cigar box, black tea and pepper. Medium bodied with an easy finish. Rather enjoyable, but doesn't have the backbone for much further cellaring.

Color is a nice garnet without any browning. Good mixture of dried red fruit and spice on the nose along with some pencil shavings and cedar. Soft mouth feel with more spice and a little over ripe banana (?). Long finish with some lingering Rutherford dust. All kinds of things going on in this wine. I like the complexity, but some of the flavors clash and the wine is a little confused. Overall a nice wine but not their best.

Rather youthful color without meniscus. Nose showed banana, pice, clove oils. Palate showed mouth coatin soft velvet supple tannins with very little fruit (where did it go?). Yes those tannins textures are great but the fruit sucks. It's only 7 years old and already devoid of typical secondaries.

Deep garnet nearing brick, blackberry jam and a slight raisin/prune nose with a gamey note at first that faded with air. Black fruit, vanilla hints, very little acidity left. Definitely on the decline but still had Rutherford characteristics with some dusty tannins on the finish. Heavy sediment. Drink up, it's downhill from here.

Significantly less enjoyable than a bottle of 4+ years ago. Aromas of stewed red fruit, dill, leather, coffee and oak never really meld or harmonize. On the palate, currant and red fruit seem slightly raisiny. Alcohol has come to the fore on the finish, and tannins are a bit too harsh. Just not integrated or in balance.

(B-) Dark maroon wine. Nose of cherry, mushroom, and some trace wood. Light on the front palate, with flavors of tobacco and ripe cherry. Flattens out toward the side palate, finishes a bit sharp. Some dust lingers on the finish. A light cabernet, though pleasant.

Decanted for about an hour, then drank over the next couple hours with red wine & mushroom marinated pork tenderloin. Aromas of plum, tobacco and a hint of coffee. Taste has blackberry, and finishes very clean - might seem a short finish, but it is nice. Tannins have integrated well with the fruit on this, and it really was a treat to drink.

Dinner with Bill, Michelle, Christal, Kevin and Carol at The Carlton, Pittsburgh. Second of four bottles. Dark red in color. Nose of black fruit and licorice. Consistent notes as previous. I just don't like this wine. I open the few left I have with non-wino guests. I still can't understand past scores by fellow CT'ers. This wine at best would be an 87-88 , at best and thats being kind. I would not buy this wine again.

Drinking like a young Napa Cab should...lots of fruit (blackberries & dark cherries) with an up front oak with notes of star anise and chocolate peeking through. Tannins are not overly pronounced. All the components are there, but I'm just not picking up on the Rutherford dust in this wine.

Picked this up for $30 and am thrilled. Complex cab nose with notes of dill, leather, cedar, and tabacco. Silky palate, with waves of currant, blackberry, cassis, spice, and mineral. Some Rutherford dust. Tannins add structure but are not harsh. A very pleasant surprise.

Nose of muted dark fruit and obvious clay and dust. Same on the palate, medium bodied, with some forest floor and hints of chocolate on the finish. This is a remarkably successful Rutherford bottling. Cherry, plum, and currant notes on the nose and in the mouth, with cocoa and a bit of vanillin. Firm enough structure to support the ripe fruit. Very nicely done. There's plenty of competition in this price range, but I'd probably buy this again.

A nice dense purple color, it has a ripe fruit nose w/hints of "dust" and vanilla/spice. Currants and plum dominate on the fruit side while the substantial backbone is well hidden. The texture is a bit coarse, just needs time I think. Fun stuff!

Believe it or not, I had this wine at a client "Pot Luck" Holiday party....buried in among the magnums of yellow tail, bottles of smoking loon and dancing bull, and just behind the boxes of wine was this gem...I know it was young, and had to be a pop and pour into the red plastic Solo cup, but man was this good...Big full bodied with excellent red fruit on the palate mixed with a little spice and some caramel and maybe even a little cinnamon, nice balance, a pretty long finish and a solid tannin structure made this wine one of the best I have had this year even under adverse tasting conditions. I will have to buy some more of this

Very good, but I shouldn't have decanted so long. Lots of dark fruit, chocolate, some oak. Great wine.

DArk rich color. Nose a bit restrained but dusty fruit and briar. Chocoloate, Cocco palate, wow. Bit of tannins there in their youth. Went excellent at Gene & Georgetties Chicago Steak House. Yummy.

Nose of muted dark fruit and obvious clay and dust. Same on the palate, medium bodied, with some forest floor and hints of chocolate on the finish. Quite impressive upon opening, however fell off a cliff on day 2; bitter and very disappointing. Very good, but drink quickly upon opening. Score is based upon day 1 notes only.

Dark red and fragrant with a nose of forest floor and crushed berries. Loads of flavor with balanced oak, licorice and earthy finish. A very nice effort that will age well based on the solid tannins.

Dark crimson in color. Fruit-driven nose of dusty berry and wet earth, which follow onto the palate and are met with plum and cassis notes. Clean mouth feel. Medium finish.

Pine Ridge Winery tasting: Big full bodied napa cab. Plenty of punch up front and long tannin aftertaste. Tasted at winery as a part of a cab flight
