a 50/50 Merlot/Syrah - deep color nose a touch floral with a touch of mushroom and some rasberry - taste followed through with some deeper cherry-overripe rasberry bit of bakers spice- good tannin- easy drinking - good price

This is a blend of 50% Merlot/50% Syrah. Purple with reddish ring; mostly opaque. Nose more reminiscent of a Merlot than a Syrah with strawberry, cherry, oak, and a slight mustiness. On the palate you get fruit on the front with strawberry and cherry, and nice tannins on the back end. The finish is long with good flavors of oak, plum, and other dark fruit. A pretty simple wine, but drinks nicely. For a 2005 it showed nice backbone and tannin structure, and will continue to drink well for the next few years.

A very nice value. At first opening, the flavors are a little muddy. However, once a little air hits the wine, the taste becomes much nicer and more complex. Initially, nice dark berry notes and finishes with a earthy, chocolate touch! An easy drinking, stand alone wine.
