Need a little air and not too cold. Gorgeous. At an ideal maturity for me - just enough fizz and beautiful notes of sweet lobster mushrooms, nuts, waxy and green fruits. And old perfume nose, slightly sweet in that fashion. Finish is more vinous and slight sherry notes that are seamless with the body and the whole.

Amber tinted color. Definitely showing some age. Medium effervescence. Some must on the nose upon opening however with some air a rich and toasty nuttiness emerged. On the palate a rich a profile consistent with Dom house style More roasted nuts, almond paste, marzipan. Fully aged at this point but still showing relatively well.

Wine Spectator 40th Anniversary; 10/21/2021-10/23/2021 (Marriott Marquis): This is prob a bit more advanced for its age than it should be but I don’t think it was the best year and bought on secondary market so never know about the storage either. Still, it’s very tasty in that way aged champagne is where maybe a hint of oxidation that turns the flavors more caramel.

Deep lemon in colour. Theres no effervescence left. The nose smells to be oxidised however on the palate, its still drinking fine. Mineral, nutty, caramel. Medium+ acidity and long finish. The given low score was contributed by the slightly faulty nose.

Celebrating some good news and what better way to do that than with old champagne? This was drinking very well. Perhaps not the best year, but it’s still very fresh for almost 30 years.

Again I decided to write this review whilst drinking the bottle. Well, this was a bottle that I purchased on the secondary market and actually forgot about for a while to be honest, But I remembered for some time actually that I needed an opportunity to open it. Oh and when I did (and I will stress here that the storage was perfect prior to me and obviously my storage was to perfection) I was not disappointed AT ALL. I know from my research that '92 was not a 'prized' year, far from it. But this was a brilliant bottle. In the glass it was a glorious and beautiful , caramel colour, clearly mature. The nose was definitely mature with beautiful spice, caramel but also with cool and creamy flavours. The mid palate for me was caramel. The finish was very very good and reminded me of the initial mouth feel. It was long and stained my palate beautifully. This was a glorious bottle.

Advanced but not oxidized. The effervescence was muted at best and faded quickly, but there were nice caramel, brioche and citrus notes beneath the almond, marzipan and ginger notes that betrayed the wine's age. Good persistence. A fascinating bottle.

Generously served by friends. All the classic notes of an aged DP with brioche, toast, nuts, caramel, and creme brûlée. Outshined by a '99 and '98 we had later in the evening, but very nice.

This was very good. It is showing a hint of age as it seemed to be slightly shaded and the bubbles have let off just a tad. This was rich, and full, with a neat nuttiness intermixed with flint. What a nice combination of flavors! I loved it really.

A bit past it’s prime. Pleasant light bubbles. Very nutty on the nose with hints of brioche and caramel. A bit low on the acidity for my taste but overall a very good and smooth aged Dom. Ripe fruit is still present but I wouldn’t wait on drinking this any longer. Long and satisfying nutty finish

Reminds me to a comtes de Champagne because of the roasted hazelnut tones. Toast, a touch of oyster, ripe fruit, macadamia nuts, nicely balanced, suprisingly strong for a 1992, outscored the de Sousa. 93-94

Gold in color and was fantastic! A bit hesitant seeing the other reviews and the fact that this bottle wasn't stored properly over its life but surprisingly was fantastic. Great flavor of nut, honey, vanilla and caramel, and fantastically smooth. Still had good carbonation too.

Just had to write about this. When Whole Foods Market (now Amazon) bought Merchant of Vino stores in 1997, it kept the original chain’s name in the Farmington Hills, Michigan store up until January 2002.
In December 2001, as a “Going out of business” sale, M.O.V. put everything half off! Great! Sucked up as many 1992 Dom Perignons as could afford!!! As a law student at the time, that meant only three. On May 27th 2017 on Russell Island, we cracked our last of these gems! Yes, this one had been in our cellar from 2001 (before we even met) all the way to mid 2017.
We cracked it for two reasons; the first, this 25 year old Dom was part of our celebration of anniversaries; coming to America, graduation, work, buying dream cars, having met, weddings, children, you name it,... it was 10, 15, 20, or 25 years from so many of those of life’s landmarks, so we thought, why not celebrate them all by spritzing a 25 YO Dom!?!?
Second reason, was, well, this stuff doesn’t last forever, now, does it?!?!?
We even videod the event! So fun!
On to the beverage… Fascinatingly, the bubbles were still all over this juice. The cork popped out about 12 feet and the lush, golden pour into our flutes was aromatic, inviting, tantalizing; just perfect.
Interestingly, the cork did not “open”, every other champagne we’ve ever had, the cork snapped open upon release, this one, after 25 years in the bottle stayed tight. We kept both.
Then we drank it!
Intense and robust yet supple, tight bubbles. Citrus, apple, peach, perfection! Carbonation is lithe, lending to a honey-like smoothness on the palate. Just amazing. Wonderfully complex as we drink it over an hour… Rich and golden color, just like one would want and expect!
What a great investment sixteen years back!
NOTE: Admittedly, we believe the sister 1992 bottle we drank back in 2009 was even better. 25 years in, this may have been on the decline... 94 pts is a 'decline'!?!?! We may have scored the bottle we drank in 2009, a 97 pointer...
We'll buy more!

Opened with the family on Christmas day as concerned that going over and past it's best. We had a bottle of the 1990 last year and that just about blew everyone's socks off.
This is not in the same league but was acceptable having been stored correctly (I am lucky enough to have a real cellar). A slight pop on opening and still a reasonable fine bead that lasted in the glass and a lovely golden hue. It had the sort of toasty lees bouquet that you would associate with an aged champagne and an almost caramel and brioche favour that persisted on the finish. Not an unpleasant experience but I am glad that we opened it, drank it and enjoyed it as I would not have wanted to keep it much longer.
Did not really justify the price premium like the 1990 but that is more down to me keeping a vintage that was never going to age like 1990 for a few years too long.

Out of magnum this had plenty of effervescence and life and though the palate was a little light on fruit, it had very pleasant leesy, yeasty notes reflecting its age. Not a wow wine but better than expected given the notes below.

Neb-fest: Nebbiolo & Truffle Dinner (Chicago, IL): The nose here was tired and oxidative/funky. Palate was also more evolved and listless than you'd expect. Flavors are interesting and complex with some mushroom, dried fruits and earth. But all in all, a bottle of Dom that's well over the hill.

Fragrance: Darker scent with a light waffle aroma.
Taste: Classic flavor, somewhat subdued and watery. Yellow apples in the final tone. A certain piggelin icecream taste appears occasionally in the background. Overall a champagne with autumn characteristics.
Comment: One of the absolute worst Dom Perignon cuvées I tried. If you drink this you do it just for trying the vintage and nothing else.

I find this to be drinking incredibly well right now. It is perhaps the youngest, approachable bottling of Dom Perignon on the market now--although the initial release 1998 may be drinking well at this point. It is still very youthful, but the yeastiness is all but gone and the fruit really singing. Surprised it has such lack luster reviews.

A sealed box and pristine bottle, but I have to question the storage. Both the nose and palate were creme brûlée, scorched sugar, toffee. No fruit left. Still had decent effervescence, though, which was good because otherwise I would have pegged this as a second rate dessert wine in a blind tasting.

Sam's bottle. Still young: huge bright nose of ginger, lemon, orange peel and a bit of cream. Nice to try a DP in the middle of its development. Palate shows ginger, spice, lemon. The end shows some vanilla and a bit of creaminess. Delicious - will be better with 5 more years. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 16.5/20.

From a magnum. There was a brief concern when the cork just slid out without any effort and no "pop". However, there was effervescence when poured into the glass and it was no worse for wear. No formal tasting notes. Golden in color with small bubbles. Rich on the palate, with an earthiness that was pleasant. I think that it is reaching the end of its life but still interesting and very enjoyable.

While others have expressed concerns about age, this bottle (which has been reliably stored) was just fine - good representation of the house style, no sense that its curtain call was near, generally delightful. Personally, I believe that the quality of the wine does not justify the premium pricing that has been established for the brand, but that is not to say that it is not still very good.

Small amount of bubbles in our bottle. Mature champagne by the look of it, but not flawed in any way, just developped. Notes of dried fruits, some hints of brioche. Precise and very creamy. You could feel the quality of wine. Drink up though, if you have one. (A-)

Cork easily slid out and gave funk of a corked bottle. Dark strawberry haze liquid with a fine string of trying, diminishing bubbles. Maderized initial taste settled down in five minutes to old brioche and mousse pate with backbone but little fruit. Still, a delightful way to celebrate a birth year. The curtain is nearly closed on this wine - drink up.

Beat your 2013 WOTY Dinner: Toast, smoke, a splash of ginger and floral notes. Lovely freshness from a fine line of acidity on the palate that combines well with the honeyed richness. Really excellent length. Different in nature to the 1992 Oenothèque I had recently, but I would suggest it is just as good if not better right now, though the future may be different.

1992 Retrospective Dinner (New Buffalo, Michigan): Opened by Mark. This was a golden yellow color. It was the oldest Dom I have had at 20 years of age. In my opinion this was starting to show it's age. I thought it lost a lot of it's bead rather quickly and was not as fresh as I like. Some sherry notes but still had a solid core of fruit. I've had at least a dozen Dom's including the 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002 and besides one flawed bottle this was my least favorite but still a very interesting bottle with character. 88 points.

KW Tasting Group New Years Eve Dinner (Greg's House): Much darker in colour than the NV Marc Hebrart that preceded it, this offered up a nose of coffee, roasted hazelnuts, lemon zest, bruised green apple and burnt sugar. On the palate, butterscotch, lemon/lime, green apple, roasted mixed nuts. Still nicely structured here, with great acidity and mouth feel. Finish is of medium length.

This was better than I expected. Solid character of a developed Champagne. Dark gold color; delicate and persistent bubbles. Aromas of baked bread, brioche, and some notes of tropical fruits (far back). Structure was great, with good acidity. Intensity of flavors was quite good. Orange peel, some apricot. Medium+ finish. In terms of how long this can still hold I'd say it's probably time to drink it up over the next couple of years- after which the fruit content may fade and this will start loosing balance.

I brought thia to Michel's blind champagne tasting. Showing its age in terms of mellowness, yet with a solid palate of biscuit, yeast and toast, the profile yellow/toasty/gold. Very faint bead, especially in comparison to the younger, more vigorous champagnes. Mellower and more reserved, yet not especially complex or profound.

CSCA: Darker gold; Rich puligny sort of nose; soft nuttiness, but not too much, not much going on in the nose--I could tell it was a bit off; mouth--fairly flat, a hint sour, chard. Burgundy notes; low fizz, not much to say. Some min. and touch tuna fish. From Richard. Poor storage was the culprit. Dining room for 5 years, fridge for one year.

Beautiful dark golden/amber color for this champagne. The nose is full of nut and ripe pear. On the palate is candied walnuts, pear, carmel, citrus and lemon peel, with just the slightest hint of sweet, tropical fruit. Very dry and long finish. This champagne still gives the impression that it is very fresh. It is showing almost no signs of aging. This one is built to last. Solid, classic Dom that does not disappoint.

Opened by Mark. Mustard yellow color. Sherry nose. Very sweet. Very low bead. Almost still. Some metallic notes with syrup and chamomile. Past its prime. 67 points

Youthful light golden appearance, fine bubbles, lots of toast on the nose. Drinking very well. None of the over the hill issues noted by other CT members over the last year or so.

Best bottle yet of this....
Nose was a touch muted but came through with notes of burnt brûlée apple, coffee and citrus
Palate showed caramel, minerals, creme brûlée, apple with a touch of oxidation creeping in. Full bodied
Finish is long and quite expansive.
