At a good spot. Perfume volatiles wildly. Drinks extremely well. Beautiful bottle. See how this develops. *2nd night some fade. Perhaps on the oblivion path.

Pnp. Garnet. Floral and woody notes. Red fruits, minerals. Smooth and silky with soft mouthfeel. Nicely balanced at this age with integrated tannins. Long finish. Delightful. Has more life ahead.

Always a good sign when you wish you had more upon drinking the last bottle. Still acidic straight from the bottle but rounded out nicely over the next 2 hours. Good balance with tart fruit at first. Excellent value.

Tart but juicy cherries; still tight and some years to go. Says a lot for a 10+ year old cru. Then again, it answers the why drink Burgundy and makes you want to go upscale.

WineBerserkers Burgundy Dinner (Garcon, San Francisco): Nose is a bit reticent for a volnay, slight spice and red fruit; palate is a well balanced modern style with plenty of red fruit but not overripe; medium finish. This will last a bit longer but it's drinking well now. 89

Popped and poured up open up in the glass. Somewhat modern fruit profile up front that started to yield after an hour or so to the mineral and more savory tones. Good mushroomy nose at that point. Palate not bad, but lacking some depth. The knock isn't what I would call green notes, but the tannins are a little coarse and underripe and it shows in the finish. The coarse finish may outlast the fruit on the palate and get worse with time. This would probably show better with food… especially as a second or third bottle after a 30 minute decant.

30-40min i dekanter. Flott nese med dyp duft av mørkebær, kirsebær, te og løv. I munn er vinen knytt, det mangler frukt og dybde, ettersmaken er stram og preget av sjenerende tanniner. Fin nese men ubalansert i munn. Kom seg noe med mer luft.

The final bottle of six that was only run through the Vinturi with time in the glass. The nose has mushroom and green pepper. The palate has a chalky minerality with the green pepper notes carrying over along with raspberry and a hint of white pepper. This bottle did not show as well as prior bottles.

Maybe this wine needs more time in the bottle or a longer decant, but it was note great. This bottle did not have any taint, as a previous bottle. Drinking well, but not great, was wishing for more fruit. Still a decent QPR...AM

Sweet dark cherries, spices, black tea, and oak. Nose has some funk to distinguish this as Burgundy, and 13% alc allows you to drink it rather than sip it. It's not too complex in flavors, but I'm happy with the purchase at $28.

Popped and aerated for 4 hours. Medium-plus dark ruby. Effusive on the pop, sufficient aeration allows the nose loosen and show aromas of black cherry, raspberry, dried rose, herbaceous/green pepper, and a touch of earthy spice. Medium to medium-plus body, nice concentration. Bright, crunchy fruits on the palate are backed by subtle herbaceous/green notes, more earthy spice, and a faint impression of minerals. Medium acidity along with mildly astringent, chalky tannins that help to push the fruit through on the moderate close. As should be expected from a 2005 red Burgundy, and even one of more "modest" origin, this is still quite youthful and at the very least could use 3-4+ more years in the cellar to open up and develop further complexity. Still, with air this is quite nice if a bit simple...the only caveat being that those who dislike green notes even at modest levels should stay away from this.

Showing a bit rustic, with decent medium dark cherry fruit, touch of raspberry, orange peel, mildly tart acidity, medium coarse tannins. Pleasant, but will probably be a bit better in a few years (if the fruit holds up).

Radish thing going on. First half-an-hour was quite awkward. I really disliked it. But, the trick with bourgogne is that you should never make a judgement so quickly. It became a lot better as it opened up. It's late, and I gotta go to sleep, so I can only give this wine 1.5 hours to open up, so no score. It's probably 87-90. Again, I must warn you that the first sip can be very disappointing.

Decanted for almost two hours. Deep ruby color, medium bodied. Savory aromas of dark fruit and forest. A bit of brett, I think. Not as appealing as the Alsatian PN of same vintage we contrasted it with.

Decanted about 3 hours. Lots of barnyard funk aromas that moderated, but didn't fully dissipated, with air. Some of that funk evolved into spicy vanilla, but no fruit. On the palate, however, it takes much more like a Cote de Nuits than a Cote de Beaune--dark fruits and fairly full bodied with lots of spice and acidity. Long finish. A little more fruit on the palate and I'd give it another point or two. Maybe, it needs a little more time in the bottle??
Barnyard still dominant on day 2. I'm calling this Brett flawed

92(+?) Pts. Decanted for 2 hours, drank over the next 3 hours. Last bottle of wine in 2010 was a real treat. This has evolved over the last year since my last bottle. Dark color, and a nose of ripe cherries, raspberries and fresh earth. Palate is full of dark ripe fruit, more ripe cherries and raspberries. Incorporated with the fruit are balanced tannins giving way to very fresh acidity. Some light spiciness on the longish finish. Drink over the next 5+ years, at this point the decant was key. Blind, I would have guessed Pommard, not Volnay due to the dark fruit...AMM3RD

Very servicable burg. Dark ruby; musky red fruit, fairly concentrated with good mouthfeel and good balance, cherries and spice; long refreshing finish is a tiny bit hot and oaky, but still nice. Overall solid wine and good value. Wait a few years with the other.

Medium bodied Red. With nose of earth, manure and red fruits. This is an old-world red burg. that needs some time to mature. Could easily score higher, but I will want to see a little more fuit in time. Very well made with strawberrys and rasberry flavors. Looking forward to enjoying again...AMM
